A question for all you neoprene fans out there. I made the mistake of hiking about 8 miles going after summer runs the other day and when I was done I was soaked through in sweat. The waders are a year old and have seen some use. They've been drying in the garage and I went out to check them today and low and behold......they're ripe! I don't understand the smell though, I showered last month!(joke)

Seriously though, I was wondering what you guys use for detergent. I figured I would fill the tub and soak/wash them there. I have a couple of concerns though:

1) I don't want to use use a detergent that will break down/corrode the neoprene.

2) Once washed inside and out, it seems to me it could be difficult to rinse all the soapy water off....especially on the inside. Don't want any weird soap rashes and god knows what else.

Any info. would be appreciated and yes, next time I do that hike I will do the shorts and tennis shoes thing.

Thanks!

I wash mine with palmolive. Its doesn't have a strong scent. And comes out of the fabric well enough. Hand wash them thats the best was to get the soap out.

Same thing happenned to me, except they sat for two years sitting in a damp place and the outside and inside was covered in mold. I gave them away to a friend. He said he through them in the washing machine and they came out just fine.
