Fished Pt Defiance with my oldest Son and Dad today. Only hooked one fish.........and 15 minutes later 29 & 1/4 lb of nookie slab was layin' on the bottom of the boat, whoooooo hoooooo. My Son was the one who played the fish, only his second salmon ever and did it like a pro. What a rush!!!!!!! He was so wore out he could hardly even hold on to his victory smoke. Also heard that a 39 pounder was boated over at Pt. Dalco. We caught this one right at the tide change off of the Clay Banks. Green Hot Spot with a green spatterback hooch and of course the Dr T-Ho-Ke anise scent herring strip. Saw 2 other fish being played, one lost right at the boat cause he got impatient and tried to horse it and didn't see how the 2nd one ended up.
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff

Nice fish !! Pleez enlighten me re the Dr.s anise scented herring strip, it's a new one on me. On another note I used to pick up a free newsletter (Boaters world or sumsuch) just to clip the Dr.s column. They quit runnin his column - does anyone know if he still writes one in sum other pub?

LOL & tight lines

So the recipe goes like this,
The night before ya go filet a 1/2 to 1 dozen frozen (I've tried fresh to frozen works best) and put them in a butter tub or something like that add 1/2 to 1 bottle of pure anise extract (not oil, extract) and sparay in about 6 - 8 seconds of WD-40, seal and refrigerate. Pretty simple stuff. Just add a small bowtie strip on the front hook of the hooch or fly that your using, leaves a scent trail a mile long. The doc is still running a charter business but unfortunatly does not write or sell his flashers or flies anymore. I've been using the scent for a few years now and sware by it!!!
Good luck and tight lines, Jeff
