I'm in the middle ground on Stern...I think he was great for many things in the NBA, but it was definitely his ego that got in on letting the Sonics move, and he's going to have a hard time finding any friends around here for that!

Fish on...

Love basket, Played 2 to 3 time a week for years. My brother actually had season tickets for a while and I was able to go to a ton of games. Under Stern, the product of the game, in my opinion, fell to a show boat arena, reminding me more of Big Time Wrestling than true basketball. Every day it seems I see a game highlight, and everyone is showing some 7 foot giant slamming into people and dunking the ball. Yes there is some skill, but not nearly as much as some of the true shooters of years ago. I pretty much quit watching when I saw a bad call during a playoff. A star player tried to dunk and was cleanly blocked. He started crying like a two year old and the refs blew a late whistle. The resulting free throws resulted in his teaming pulling ahead and winning the series. . After the game they interviewed the rookie and asked him how he felt about the call going against him. His response was classic and basically summed up the state of the game. "he deserves calls like that. When I have more time in the league, the refs will start to call them in my favor."
Basketball is now more about making stars, pop culture, and making money than providing a good, fair game. It seems to work in the money department, but you won't see me buying into it.

It does seem to be all about making stars pop culture and maximizing revenue which all comes at the expense of good quality sound basketball. I don’t think I’ve seen so many “super teams” going back 15-20 years ago. A lot of teams had a couple all stars, but nothing like now. You make more money playing in LA and New York and other big markets.

Better put Parker on suicide watch...Neil Peart, dead at 67 of brain cancer.

Not only the only good thing about Rush, but one of the best rock drummers of all time.

Fish on...

Too soon?

I'm not sorry.

Well you got one thing right,Neil was a drumming god. I think the bass and guitar playing of Rush was decent enough. crazy

As for Neil Peart,he seemed to be a decent family man, suffered tragic losses of his wife and young daughter within a year, and dies of brain cancer. Geez. RIP big man,I'll crank some 2112 in your honor tonight.

Soulman Rocky Johnson. The father of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. I grew up watching Rocky and his then tag partner Tony Mr. Usa Atlas on saturday mornings. Here's a classic match between Rocky and everyone's favorite heel,Rowdy Roddy Piper.

This will turn out even more tragic if the pilot was not qualified to fly under IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) and flew into the fog bank anyway.

I'm no pilot but I have driven through Calabassas before and if memory serves, there's not much leeway on either side of Hwy 101 before you would hit the mountain sides. Woulda, coulda, shoulda would have been to turn that chopper around before even hitting the fog. I hope I'm wrong but jeez. Don't take risks like that.
