In my experiences from silver fishing when running into porpoises the fish seem to go off the bite. They are probably running for there lives. I was watching the travel show today and saw porpoises while they were fishing and they commented on how there would be no fish and might as well reel in your line. Anybody else got porpoise fishing experiences that will help understand this effect.

Not porpoises, but Orcas. See that big black fin and you might as well go have lunch (or dinner, or come back the next morning and hope they're not there). This is a consistent story at Pt. Defiance.
