Or would have been had he not died of cancer in 1981. I was walking in downtown Bellingham in '75 & heard this tune coming out of the open door of a music store. It blew me away. I went in & bought the album 'Catch a Fire'. This is the oldest lp I still spin regularly. Like reggae music or not, it's one of the most popular genre's in the world. Remember-with reggae music, skank is a verb not a noun.
This is a live version from '75 after Peter & Bunny went solo.

I also have been a long time fan of Reggae music and Bob Marley was the first artist that I became familiar with. I am still a Marley fan but thier is much more Reggae available in the States now, than when I first became aware of the genre.

Good tune. The I-Threes, Judy Mowatt, Rita Marley & Nancy Griffiths, all have catalogs of their own music before & after thier gig with the Wailers. We went to a 3 day reggae festival in Ladysmith, V.I, of all places considering who was there. Saw Judy Mowatt, Clinton Fearon & the Boogie Bbrown Band, Heptones, Joe Higgs etc.
I've got Postive Vibrations kexp's reggae program on now.

I don't know how I never learned of Marley until years after his death, but I've been trying to make for it by listening whenever I can since then.

I hadn't heard Taj's version before. Good cover. Here's the original - early ska style. I heard this on the great soundtrack from the "Harder They Come'.

It would be Karen Carpenter's 66th birthday on March 2 if she wouldn't have died.

If reggae ain't coming out of the speakers on the way to the river, it's not a real fishing day.

Fish4 - Yea & if Mama Cass had shared her ham sandwich with Karen, they might both be still alive.
& thanks for the birthday greeting, AP. I gotta keep saying that number to myself 'cause it hasn't sunk in.
For anyone interested - Clinton Fearon & the Boogie Brown Band will be playing at the The Point Casino. Clinton was an early '70's JA session player & a member of both the Gladiators & Defenders. Good roots groups but not well known here. I'll probably go for the first set.
