I was wondering when the current really slows down is the best method to anchor and start to back boounce? And how much leader should I run between the three way and the wieght and the three way and the kwikfish? Any help would be appreciated

Thanx

Kevin,
Anchoring vs. back-trolling vs. drifting has more to do with how much water you want to cover and are there other fishermen also fishing the same spot.If you have a hole all to yourself and you want to spend some time there then anchor up.However it is not to polite to anchor up when others are trying to fish the same waters.
One aspect of not anchoring is to move the boat from side to side and up and down in the hole to cover it thoroughly.Sometimes the fish won't move very far to strike a lure, but if you put it right in front of them the will.
I use a drop line of about 10" to the sinker and a leader 4' to the Kwik-Fish with good success.Kwik-Fish work better in slower water than Flat-Fish and vise-a-versa.Good Luck, lester

when you run a slider do you feel the plug better. It seems like the plugs not working sometimes in deep holes. Thanx for the advice

Sliders are always best when bouncing in my book: first off, it's easier to feel what's happening at the other end better, and secondly, when a fish starts to take, you can lower the rod tip and he'll feel less resistance from the rod and the weight so that you have a better chance of the fish fully turning on your offering. Myself, four feet of leader seems fine on an 18 inch drop line.

Kevin,
When you lose action at the rod tip try cranking up a few turns on your reel and see if your action comes back. Alot of times you lose action because the hole shallows in some spots and your lure is on the bottom. Also be sure and "tune" your lure so it is tracking straight or the kwik fish will wash out to one side and you will lose your action also.Good Luck, lester
