How many of us are Alaskan, or future residents. I've been working on a place near Anchor Point for at least 5 years. Sound off Alaskan's.

I'll retire in either Ak or BC as I'm starting to miss fishing.

And although I enjoy and get along with most people 7.5 million of them in Puget Sound are annoying as hell!

Good plan... I got out of pugetropolis about 10 years ago. Was one of my best moves. You don't realize how bad it is over there, until you go to an area with great fishing and no crowds. When I go back to the Seattle area, it only takes a few minutes in traffic to confirm why I moved.

We moved a week ago to Copalis Beach. I'm working from home and it's great!! 10 min to the Hump....on the copalis river. I'll never go back to the city and live. I will make often trips to Alki Beach to see my folks. Duck hunting Sat right in front of my house.

No stop lights very few stop signs and flat as a pancake. Hearing the ocean night and day is soothing. We will be putting our Cougar Mt Home up for sale this spring. Life is great.
thumbs thumbs

P.S And a 50 yard shooting range! FCK THE 206 and 425.

Grays Harbor County has some of the nicest people in the state. I recently read somewhere that Hoquiam has the highest charity donation per capita in the whole U.S.A.

FP, is that you selling the clam guns by the Green Lantern on the dig days?

I'm amazed by the number of people buying and moving to the Copalis Beach and Pacific Beach areas. I own a small land surveying company and I would bet we get at least a call per week about something out in the area. Folks from Minnesota, Arizona, Texas, and lots of Seattle extended.

You will probably meet my Uncle and his band of codger fishing buddies if you fish those rivers on the retired guy schedule.

Really? interesting. I've befriended a local who has show me some tiny tribs around here that I had never heard of, mostly wild Coho with a stray Steelhead now and then. And not another fisherman in sight. I'm so glad I got out of the city, it's not even funny. Now I have to worry about going to the big city, Hoq/Aberdeen. I wish I would have done this 20 years ago, but as you know there's not a lot of work out here.

I'm building a a house and 3 cabins in SE and spend increasingly more time up there every summer

Now that Alaska Airlines is flying to Costa Rica momma and I will be scouting our winter home in the next year. 7 months in AK and 5 in CR sounds like a good way to die.

I'm pursuing my engineering license in AK (you have to take a specialized frost class and test to get it) and plan on trying to diversify our business into SE.

We have worked for another company on projects around KTN, Juneau and Anchorage and I would like to pursue work there. Specifically KTN and POW as I have family and a place to stay there (boats and trucks as well). The business owner is slowing down and we have been talking about me stepping in and taking some of his clients.

POW is a great but not so secret place anymore. Awesome saltwater fishing, killer steelhead fishing and duck, deer, bear, etc.

The amenities are there too. I've got rural acreage with city water, power, sewer which makes life easier. I'm on the north end of the island about an hour from Craig.

Funny, I was just looking into the AK PE thing too. You can either do the class through the UW in Seattle or UA online. Either way, I've heard both are pretty interesting, content wise.

Still, it seems the folks up there are reluctant to farm work down south, but you may have found a nice way in. I've done some work in Juneau, Valdez, and Deadhorse but all for local outfits.

RowVsWade, your AK + CR plan is pretty close to the same as ours. Looking forward to see how things come together.

Please don't post any pics that give away where you live or hang out. This site is followed by tweakers, Bigfoot trackers, wannabes, and common criminals.

As always, good luck and keep one chambered. shoot
