There was a new posting, 3/2/16, that talked about a area that was used as access to a local river.

Talked about drift boats being dragged over Coho redds. Talked about timber company and WDFW, being there while a "tank type barrier" being installed.

What happened to the posting????

It was incorrect?

The river doesn't exist?
Trees weren't dropped?
Redds weren't walked across?
People weren't douchebags?
The timber company wasn't pissed?
The timber company wasn't ditching the access?

Seems a little strange.

No redds where harmed, no trees cut, just a beaver slide that took four men and a mule to get a boat to the river was lost. First 100 yds of access belonged to GD, Beaver slide was on Grays harbor county property.
Bottom line is, they would rather you have no launches, so you will call and pressure the State into getting 7400 deal done. The WDFW has two options, they walked the the property, liked what they saw, and have not acted on it. No deal has been done, and if not, key lots will go up for auction to the highest bidders, only guides that meet the insurance requirements will be allowed to bid. This was told to me by GD head of Security yesterday.
Call the dept, and voice your concerns. The ball needs to find the cup

I'll say it again: If they intend to pimp out our fish to those willing to pay (and properly insured, of course) and lock the rest of the public out, they need to be paying for whatever percentage of the PUBLIC-FUNDED hatchery fish their Johns are exploiting. I'd say a fair formula would be to calculate how much of the fishable river is only accessible with GD's blessing, determine what percentage of the fishable water that includes, then send GD a bill for that percentage of the hatchery production.

And before any of you GD sack suckers jump in and remind me I can still drag a pontoon or walk in 2 miles, over rough terrain, to fish that water, please consider what BS that really is first.

Flea Flicker is spot on....

Last week I walked the 1.7 miles in to fish that area and to get away from the circus downstream.

I was about a mile in and a pickup appeared heading my way. I thought to myself " No f___ing way"!!! Hopefully it's security and not fishermen.

They slowed, I asked how the heck they got a key. Driver said he worked for GD. He had a buddy with him who did not work for GD.

I was pretty bummed, thought I had it. They were swinging flies and said they didn't touch anything. I prefer to swing flies over any other tech but we talked about how there isn't the best swinging water in there...

He actually asked if I wanted a ride the rest of the way down, I declined and walked the rest of the way. Even though I was mad someone had fished the spots both of the guys were really nice and even apologized to me.

I knew I could fish some of the water in a more effective way then they had. At the end of my session I ended up 1/2 with a float/worm jig.

I asked him why the f GD would keep the 74 open but shut this gate down? He had no idea but gave me the old " trash left behind" answer.

I laughed as very few people know this access and those who do use it are usually respectful people...

Hopefully I will get a chance to launch my pontoon there and float to 7400 Bridge before the end of the season 😎

The access you are refering to closes upon completion of hunting season. So it is open all fall, So out goes the trash issue. Even if the 7400 is purchased by WDFW, none of the above access will be opened for general use. The old beaver slide will remain a pay for play project and the other main access will close Jan 1st.

The option the WDFW has is about 1/2 miles above 7400. High bank, easy river access, great for a WB style of launch facility. Hmmmm I would venture to say, without motor restrictions, it will become like the new WDFW Satsop west fork launch. But can you blame them. All ready pictures of motor boats under 7400 bridge this year......

The sad thing is, the beaver slide was also a put in pull out for other user groups. And a nice drive in to the goat walk, rope assist trail down to the ring of fire, old railroad cars with the old engine in the river still. Awsome if you have not seen it yet

I pulled the topics. Not because of content, but because a couple board members were using their posts for their personal attacks.....which is not tolerated here. You all can go point your fingers at each other someplace else.
