And Turkey is going to seize our nukes?

I'll believe that when it happens - it sounds like more Eeyore sh!t to me. That would be the biggest mistake Turkey ever made, and they'd be needing a sh!t ton more than that to engage the US and Russians - which is what seizing our weapons would lead to.

Sounds like a real pile of sh!t to me, but still a long ways away from being WWIII at this point.

Not too far Dan, as soon as an invasion force crosses into Syria things are going to escalate fast. Invasion is the next step and could happen any second, and I suspect it will happen soon because Russia is a tad bit behind the eight ball trying as fast as possible to get enough asets in Syria to fight a conventional groundwar against a 500,000+ invasion ground force comprised of a Suni coalition.

Russia has air superiority even agianst US technology already. Don't think they won't defend their interests without hesitation. Thats the problem with Russia now, they have advanced their technology far enough in the last 20 years especially in aircraft and anti aircraft That even our stuff can't infiltrate it or defend against it. The SAM 400 system is far more advanced than any system we have.

Apparently they have a new tank as well that is supposed to be better than anything else out there and apparently they are sending lots of them to Syria via nonstop air transport.

I hope we don't end up fighting the Russians on foreign soil.

If anything serious goes down with Russia it will be settled with Nuke Subs. Which is highly unlikely as of right now.

I think we would be better off getting out of the middle East all together, are biggest problems are right here at home. It's pretty obvious they want to handle their own affairs.

Per Military Times:

Make no mistake: Experts agree that the U.S. military's globe-spanning force would clobber the Russian military in any toe-to-toe conventional fight. But modern wars are not toe-to-toe conventional fights; geography, politics and terrain inevitably give one side an advantage.

Today, the U.S. spends nearly 10 times more than Russia on national defense. The U.S. operates 10 aircraft carriers; Russia has just one. And the U.S. military maintains a broad technological edge and a vastly superior ability to project power around the world.

Toe to toe, a conventional war between the U.S. and Russia would be no contest. But few believe any conflict would play out like that.
(Photo: Melinda Johnson/Staff)
Russia remains weak, according to many traditional criteria. But it is now developing some key technologies, new fighting tactics and a brazen geopolitical strategy that is

aggressively undermining America's 25-year claim to being the only truly global superpower. The result: Russia is unexpectedly re-emerging as America's chief military rival.
--------------------------------------------------------

In case you forgot, Rich, before the first Gulf War broke out, people were saying the US would have difficulty dealing with Iraq. Then operations started, and we walked through them like sh!t through a goose.

Russia doesn't want a war with us - and we don't want one with them. I think, in the end, cooler head will prevail, and this will blow over.

At least I hope it will.

20,000 tanks is what's being reported, suposidly they only have 1200 or so, so where did the other 18,200 come from? Either its [Bleeeeep!] or its part of a coalition. You never know what Saudi has acquired in trade for oil all these years.

Rich is correct, Russia has superior air technology and overall defense system. We are so far behind...... Fuk, we don't even have the technology to get a clear pic of Bigfoot or a Gnome. We are screwed.

Dan, I agree neither would want to fight each other it would only result in a bunch of unnecessary death and destruction.

There is no need for us to compete with them, they don't need anything, (big land mass and not many people, lots of resources). Just let them sell their oil and gas protect their interests and leave them alone, that's all they want and really its all we want. It's time we got the hell out of the Middle East, seems its in Obama's playbook anyways. If Europe still wants our protection or more of it we need to send it but for a price, they are going to need our help with the refugee problems, with many more sure to head to Europe.

I read somewhere that if that SAM 400 was fired at a target in Telaviv from the Northern Syrian Boarder, it would impact the target in 112 seconds, with the accuracy of being able to go through said window at said address. It can be either a defensive or offensive weapon with a lock on range of 600 miles and a target range of 400 miles. It has a speed of 17,000 kilometers an hour, and can be tipped with a nuke warhead. No plane can outrun it, outmaneuver it or shake its radar lock, apparently it's radar system is twice that of the F-35. From what I have read the SAM 400 makes the F-35 completely obsolete.

The other problems have with them if we decide to punch it out is the fact that they have produced thousands of ballistic misles specifically meant to destroy our navy which would be fired from deep within protected Russia, they have 200 highly accurate missles for each ship we have and it only takes .5% to hit target and our entire navy is gone in the blink of an eye. They produced this technology and all the weaponry for about 1 billion dollars, the cost of one aircraft carrier.

Accept the subs that is. But nobody is going to fire ICBMs at cities, nobody is that crazy.

They'd better be that good at destroying carriers, because we have 10 and they have one.

And if you think they're going to scuttle our entire Navy and we aren't going to bring ICBM's into play, then the gnome stories seem sane.

Our sub fleet is not going to let our Navy and Air Force be handled. That's why we sunk the $$$ into that fleet, and the Russians can't hold our jock in that theater - we outnumber them 71 to 59, and ours are quieter.

Which is why I think this whole thing gets put down before it boils over.
