well the new knee was installed this last Monday. thought the day would never come. the last 10 yrs has been rough. the long hiking days along rivers was no longer a plan. even days plunking became a painful experience!

this knee replacement required the removal of 3 screws and 2 pins. the pain from the hardware over the years has taken a toll on me. I knew the effects would be felt. thumbs

I asked the doc if I could have some pics taken during operation? he said sure why not. well there was some sweet graphic pics taken.

a fair warning to the liberal squimish types...... from here on out it gets very graphic .

pics are in order.

crack a beer and enjoy.

apple core being removed.

I was also given the hardware

hopefully I will have a speedy recovery.

[Bleeeeep!]

Looked like an alien came out of your knee !

And then that black implant.
Does that make you part Negro now ?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Speedy recovery Brewer.

Wow! Looks like a christmas ham getting carved, with ornaments inside. I'm sure you will be able to do some river walking agian in a few months, that uneven walking over rocks is hard on anybody with back, hip or leg damage. My dad stopped15 years ago due to herniated disk in his lower back. He was too scared to get surgery.

not on the perkys. I have something called Morphodone. this morphine based drug kills the pain very well. however it creates a groggy effect. I also get the walking into cobweb/spider effect to. I have a high pain tolerance so i'm not abusing them.

as for P/T, i'm doing all my home workouts. today I see the Rebound P/T team. I expect to leave there truly zapped!

just got back from the P/T . they waste no time getting a person back to normal.

All P/T people seem to have a special helping of evil.

That fugger is a pretty good striker.
Just needs a bigger hammer.
Reminds me of my much vaunted carps using their "toy" hammers on my steel stakes instead of a 4 pounder.

Had both knees done Brewer, was back to semi light duty at work after 3 weeks each time. Stayed awake and watched the first one on the TV--- pretty interesting. After 5 years don't really notice them anymore. Asked the Dr. after the first one what I could do to hurt the healing process and he said just don't fall down. So you can push up against as much pain as you can handle. I took about 10 100 yard walks every day for the first 2 weeks, up and down the stairs everyday. The one thing I didn't do was mix alcohol and pain pills.

it's a constant battle against stiffness. I am being told just let the knee properly. then bust tail on the full rehab.

ice is truly your best friend. I keep it on ice nearly 24hrs a day. the compression socks are annoying.

Cool! And ouch! smile

Heal up Brewer.

Just be thankful it's not your shoulder. Had my second shoulder surgery in February and am now experience my second bout of Adhesive capsulitis, aka Frozen Shoulder.

My left shoulder isn't freezing as bad as the right one did, but bad enough.

I can't believe I have ANOTHER frozen shoulder. Ugh. This sucks...but still not as bad a new knee kinda suck.

heal up is the term that I hear the most.

mental note to self (or anyone else) never go to P/T without being predoped up with meds. You will quickly pay price.

if you leave P/T with a smile on your face. you didn't give 100%.

Industrial size and strength Jack Hammers require the use of both shoulders. It's a hazard of the job.

The tip can be extremely dangerous too. That's why anyone around a Jack Hammer should wear protective steel toe boots, safety glasses and a hard hat.

Jack Hammer Safety is no laughing matter.

Knee replacement surgery is very effective at reducing knee pain.

I used to have achy knees, but after looking at the grisly pictures of your surgery for a week, my knees are now pain-free.

Thanks for all you do...
