Why?
The chief is right about this, but the BLM movement has many valid frustrations. Disproportionate numbers of blacks are incarcerated, disproportionate numbers of blacks are shot by police, even when considering the disproportionate number that commit crimes, a clear disparity still exists.
The problems with the BLM movement is that it acts like every black man who is shot by police was innocent despite the many cases where overwhelmingly clear evidence suggests otherwise. It also doesn't help when some members resort to violence, looting, vandalizing ect. Because of this, many people disregard the movement altogether or discredit it.
But... look at the root of the racism that exists. Whites have oppressed blacks (and to an extent still do) which continues to linger in the form of disproportionate numbers experiencing income inequality, limited access to quality education, poverty, ect. The formation of a resistent subculture of blacks was largely shaped by oppression from whites.
The only way to resolve this is to continue talking about it, bringing awareness to it through peaceful and constructive dialogue, and acknowledging that it exists. The problem is that it isn't easy to do because for blacks it exposes them to micro aggressions that invalidate their viewpoints causing them to feel unheard, and for whites it is difficult because of obliviousness and a need to defend themselves (whites are victim of white supremacy as well). It also exposes them to their biases, potentially racist views, and having to acknowledge their white privilege.

check their white priviliege lol? just fuking stop with that. how this board talks about native americans (putting down hay bales) is 1,000 worse than any other ethnicity. stam is partially correct. btw this is why jose hernadez's death hurts so much. he came here for a better life, and all other immigrants try to take advantage of the American dream while some just sit on their asses and complain.

... try to take advantage of the American dream while some just sit on their asses and complain. Actually, this sounds a lot like what a bunch of ignorant racist Americans do...sit on their asses and complain...while the vast majority of immigrants come here to bust ass. It's not a coincidence that the actual non-corporate welfare community in this country is a bunch of poor, ignorant white racists...and also Trump supporters...because he tells them what they "already know"...that brown/black/yellow dude from Somewhereistan took your job. Fish on... Todd

We have a decent idea of the problem. Most of us are looking for real life solutions.
Hint...The answer won't be Clinton or Trump.

probably got the gun from your shop. so there's that.... Took it from his Dad, take this, it was a Ruger 10-22 .22lr. He must have been real close to the victims and kill them with head shots, because they all died.

Any individual or group that judges by the group has the potential to be dangerous and at the very least does not move the conversation forward. Pretty hard to make your point when your bashing a vast segment of the population, many of whom are actually sympathetic to that cause. I much prefer the Seahawks approach than BLM's.

My white privilege started with 2 parents in the home that stressed education and hard work. Then it was start at the bottom and work your way up. One of my brothers paid for a welding course to become a certified welder in Oakland Ca over 30 years ago. Three quarters of the class was made up of people of color getting paid to take the course. Most of those students sat on the sidelines smoking cigarettes and bs'ing and not partaking in the opportunity while my brother pretty much had the teacher and materials to himself. Was that white privilege? White privilege with a brown nose, maybe. Nobody cares what some racist old douche bag's brother did thirty years ago.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Jerry thinks his two-parent middle class beginning was starting at the bottom.

lol I also read Garcia's post, and I just don't understand how you came to that conclusion, his first sentence stated that "My white privilege started with 2 parents in the home that stressed education and hard work." In that sentence he called his 2 parent family and the values they instilled in him white privilege. He then segways to the concept of starting your carreer at the bottom and working your way up. At least that's the way I read it. But of course maybe you're just trying to be a smart ass.

Favorite line from the movie Get Hard:
Martin: I built this company with my two own hands. Just me, that computer and an eight million dollar loan from my father.
James King: You really did it all on your own.
