I did some MMA training several years ago....Muay Thai discipline. It got me in great shape until a sparring incident with my trainer resulted in my left bicep tendon tearing away from the shoulder. Surgery required re-attachment and some removal of my collar bone...good times. Had full recovery and still hit the heavy and speed bag when in the mood.

SD, I think Bellator is another organization that has MMA divisions, plus there are "kick-boxing only" organizations that do not permit grappling.

There are several good fighters in the UFC and Bellator.....Conor Mcgregor holds two belts in the UFC, Donald Cerrone is entertaining on and out of the ring, just to name two. Benson Henderson, from Federal Way has fought in both organizations. And there are talented female fighters too.

the UFC is the highest point you can get, Bellator, ONE, WSF are a few others, the chicks fight in INVICTA, there used to be another fairly large one called PRIDE, but they are gone now, there was also Strikeforce, EliteXC, WEC, DREAM, Shooto, ect...

K1 is another one, its kickboxing, but theres grappling, basically it would be a UFC match in a boxing ring, ALOT of great fights came there, especially Cro Cop and Fedor, Arlovski, Overeem, Hoost, Mark Hunt, ect...

the UFC is where MMA fighters hope to land, if they are good enough....

Mike, did you see that Swanson, Choi fight tonight? That was a freeking war.....hay maker after hay maker. One of the best fights I've ever seen.

Cub Swanson vs. Dooho Choi was a main card bout from UFC 206. I don't buy the PPV fights, but always watch the prelims. Not sure how you saw it today as the fight was Dec. 10th.
