Earl Thomas.
Thoughts?
At first I was like:
Yay! He kicks ass!
And then I was like:
Oh no, he's broke. Poor guy. He'll be back
And then he healed up and became a whiny biatch.
Screw you, Earl.
And then he came back and I was like:
Yay! Earl Thomas!
Now, he's broke again and flipped us off because he didn't get his money and now I'm like:
Screw you, Earl. You are broken goods.
I say sorry for your careel ending injury, but good riddance. It's the nature of the business and you know that.

look at McDougald's stats, they are nearly identical...
the can easily take Flowers and put him in at safety if need be, because thats what he played in college... who knows tho...
the thing with Earl, this is the 2nd time he has broken that leg running into another player, and it wasnt even hard hits either... the last time he broke it he hit Kam in the thigh...
alot of people dont realize, that there are team doctors, im starting to wonder if the reason he wasnt extended was because the doctors determined something was up with his bones?
i love Earl tho, and this actually may not be as bad as it seems... he will bounce back for sure, but who is going to pay a ton of money on a 30 year old hard hitting safety that broke his leg twice in 4 years?
this opens up the door for him to stay in Seattle, at a much lower contract rate, if he really wants to finish his career here like he said...
that will be up to him tho i think for the most part...
Pete has also said to give him some slack, so there doesnt seem to be too much trouble going on, you would think if there was a huge arguement in the locker room that it would have leaked out...
i guess we will just have to wait and hear what Earl has to say, hell, he may even retire...
what i think is odd tho, is all the people that are saying we should have paid him... what would they be saying if we paid him a 50 million dollar contract for 3-4 years last week, and this happened?
i know what would be said, they just wont admit it....

Earl can flip off anyone he wants...I appreciate his frustration, but it just makes him look childish, it sure didn't help his chances of getting paid by anyone.
The Hawks' management can come out and say it, but this is EXACTLY why they didn't give him an extension...they'd be totally smothered by TWO overpaid safeties that aren't playing if they had. Their decision to wait has turned out to be not only a good decision, but a rather prescient one, too.
The players are fond of saying "this is a business decision" when they hold out and ask for more money or extensions before their current contracts run out...but even the most fired up of them has to look at what happened with Kam, and then look at what happened with Earl, and see which one was the better business decision for the team.
Fish on...
Todd

I think fans root for the name on the front of the jersey and not the name on the back.
NFL=Not For Long.
IF you want to be the highest paid player at your position then sign a 1 year deal. If the team wont guarantee the contract except on a year to year basis why on earth would a player sign it? And even dumber is being surprised three months later that you are no longer the highest paid player at that position.
Education/degrees matter. If you think having 10 million + in the bank at 30 years old AND that your earnings ability ends at that age you should probably think about going back to school..........Or living with Mom.

How did he end up with that last name?
"It was described by Seattle coach Pete Carroll as a lower leg fracture that may be related to his previous injury."
He chose not to have surgery on the first one. Sounds like it failed again. Perhaps he should of had surgery the first time.
Wonder if he was playing doctor and telling them how to do their job too.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

I guess he's going to have to find a way to get by on the 40 plus million he's already banked.
That's a pretty solid start to being solvent the rest of his life.

That's a pretty solid start to being solvent the rest of his life. There goes any trade value. This front office needs a shake up including Pete. Do you realize we got nothing of value for any of the LOB, and they were all under 30 UFB. Seems like Russel is more interested in holly wood then when he first started. He's a step slow again and is not accurate and doesn't know when to get rid of the farking BALL !! Earl's been dead to me since last year..KARMA is a b!tch Earl. LMAO !!! You lost 30-40 million for being a greedy self centered Punk. The Hawks paid you over 60 million dollars. Maybe missing practice this year contributed to this injury, who knows? But flipping off the coaches was a nice touch on your part.

It's definitely Schit, not Russ...
On a side note, Mike Davis is the best back on the team, they need to leave him as starter...

Will Dissly is out too with a torn patella. Arizona hasn't been kind to the Hawks.
Sold our tickets to the Rams game. Not sure if the Rams starting CBs are going to play. Going to be tough against Suh and Donald. Gurley has turned from a bust to a beast.

Seems like Russel is more interested in holly wood then when he first started. He's a step slow again and is not accurate and doesn't know when to get rid of the farking BALL !! I blame Schittenheimer for Shorty's woes more than I blame Shorty. By mid-season you Fawksfans will be wishin' you still had Bevell. When are they going understand he's not a pocket passer at 5' 11" wtf happened to the read option??? Because he's not as fast as he once was, that's why. Then PC doesn't run the ball on 3rd and one while we were pounding them into submission. PC makes some of the stupidest play calls than any other Coach every year, one that cost us back to back titles.

alot of people dont realize, that there are team doctors, im starting to wonder if the reason he wasnt extended was because the doctors determined something was up with his bones? Pains me to say this, but you are 100% correct. The two team physicians/surgeons have THE final say on any player's overall health and worth to a team. This process starts at the combines. All of the "fresh meat" is looked over by every team doctor and they all share the same information. The teams rely heavily on what the doctors say is good/bad...and this goes on as the season starts and injuries occur. Granted, once a player signs with a team, that medical info becomes property of the team and not released out to anyone. If the Doc tells the front office that a player is damaged goods, he's done for. I'd be surprised if ET wasn't labeled as "damanged goods" by the Docs for not having surgery to repair his intial break....'cuz a few titanium rods and screws are always going to be much stronger than a natural heal. Might not be better for you...but it will be stronger.

A medical profession can correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding of bones is that they are very strong in one direction and very weak in others. They are strong where, evolutionarily, they needed to be. Leg bones, for example, may be able to bear a lot of downward force as that where humans and earlier animals placed the most pressure. Jumping, landing on the feet, supporting loads. They are, I have been told, weaker when hit from the side as that is not a direction that our evolutionary history decided needed to be protected against. So, a modest hit from side may cause a break while the same hit down the length of the bone may be easily absorbed.

As a layman, sounds reasonable to me. Earl out just assures me that our FO won't give up another huge 3-4 year contract to someone who has peaked. Our front office is terrible at Poker, time and time again. Just watch what Bellicheat does in those situations. He is so much smarter than any Coach in modern times. Doesn't hurt to have a goat for a QB too. I can't get over the last two seasons were RW doesn't get rid of the GD ball. He never did that his first few seasons. O line looks a bit better though. yay. 8-8.
