2-16 in league. Pretty pathetic coming from a program who has the dean of coaches in the pac12, along with one of the best guards in the country (another 1 and done) Recruiting looks good next season with Porter Jr, etc....
Romars character and loyalty are unsurpassed, however his ability to coach and get to the tourney is right up there with Ernie Kent and a bunch of other washed up Coog burnouts.....so, is it time to pursue other coaching options and gut the program from the bottom or ride this out with hopes of a brighter future?

Unfortunately I think that they are two years away from having a really good team, with the players who are there right now...but too many shittty seasons in a row, not so good.
Fish on...

Read an interesting piece on Romar. The essence was that given the state of UW athletic finances, they probably can't afford the firing/payouts and hire new coaches. Also, there is the real risk that firing Romar will also cost at least the top recruits as one is his Godson and son of the assistant-who would likely be fired too.

Done.
I've been going to games since I was a little kid. This team sucked and the crowds were as small and as dis interested as any I've seen in 40 years.
When the women's team is drawing twice as many fans as the men's team the coach has got to go!

He's not going anywhere. His "recently" hired assistant coach from Missouri brought out his two sons....the Porter boys. Michael Porter Jr (6'10")just won the state championship for Nathan Hale. Blue Chips. Plus some other talent. If you didn't watch the 3A state championship last night you missed this little pass to himself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GG9OLKIY-L0

Interested to see what you guys thought. My feeling is that he's always had talent in the program but can't get the unit to gel enough to win conference championships and get in tourny. This year has been an atrocity, with no tourney bids in what 5...6...7 years? It's GTFO time. I've always liked Romar, maybe hes getting burned out the last few years, because the style of ball is gym rat, no defense, no passion, etc.... I say can him and let these superstar one and done guys go if they want, we are trying to build a program from AAU/HS and up, not hope for a miracle season

It's hard for me to say it's time to go. I remember him as a really good player and a great role model. He's had ample time to prove his wares.

Never like seeing someone lose there job, but this needed to happen. Sometimes people stay too long and programs get stagnant and need new blood.
The Porter kid would have been fun to watch, but you can't let a 18 year old dictate what is best for the program. People are crying that firing Romar will set the program back 10 years. Where has he gotten us lately? Porter is a one and done and there is no guarantee they would have gotten to the dance next year even with him. Once he's gone, back to what we saw this year. I want to see the program be good for a long time rather then just getting a one year bump. SF

It's the right call but still sad.
I hope Jen hits a home run and the next coach can also last 15 years!

Washington B- ball is just a stepping stone for Coaches looking to bolster their careers for greener pastures.

Hey Dan, have you seen Isiah Thomas taking the NBA by storm. Imo, the best little guard since Allen Iverson. I think he's top five in scoring and doesn't turn over the ball. He's also averaging the most points in the 4th Qtr than any other player.

Washington B- ball is just a stepping stone for Coaches looking to bolster their careers for greener pastures. Since Marv Harshmen retired not a single coach has been good enough to move on to greener pastures. Every last one of them was fired. And with the local talent available. Amongst the best talent pool in the country. Pathetic. I'll always love Romar but damn UW should be doing a whole lot better.

And with the local talent available. Amongst the best talent pool in the country. Pathetic. Now that's funny. Decent talent, not near the best by a long shot.
