I always thought the idea behind socialism was to tax the rich to feed the poor not tax the poor to feed the politician?
Then I read Tim Burgess's comments and realized he's a racist!

And the "progressive" liberals in Seattle wonder how anyone can vote for Trump. They just don't get that some of us prefer our freedoms, and don't really care to be nannied.

Whatever it takes so that I don't have to pay for the healthcare of the fat slobs who drink 64 ounce sodas twice a day and wonder why they die at 52.
They are the true socialists, sucking off the part of society that is smart enough to not ever drink that garbage with HFCS in it.
Fish on...

The Seattle soda tax will work about the way a soda tax in Philly worked out.
The distributors will pass it on to the retailers. The retailers will pass it on to the consumers. The consumers will pass on it and buy their sodas out of town.
Because there aren't enough soda sales to keep the soda delivery drivers busy, the distributors will cut their hours or lay them off.
Seattle won't see the tax revenue it was hoping for, so it will snivel about greedy distributors trying to make a profit and not being worried about fat kids. Is that what really happened in Philly?

I actually went to a source other than Zero Hedge - because they're lunatics - and wasn't able to confirm there has been any real effect at all in Philly that can be attributed to their tax, other than the lawyers getting paid to run their dog and pony show.
I don't really have a problem with cities or states taxing you for buying stupid sh!t, though. But singling out soda seems like a lazy tax some goat came up with as a band aid fix for a larger and still unsolved problem.

Sugar has killed more people than all drugs combined, some day they will try to make sugar a scheduled 4 drug.

Surprise surprise. Sbux bottled Fraps with WAY MORE sugar than almost all soft drinks just happens to be....wait for it....wait for it.....exempt!
Seattle is just a cluster of epic proportions now. It's jumped the shark. On all fronts and in all ways. We should no longer be surprised to hear anything out of it now, short of an M's championship.

Zero hedge......even Rich doesn't read that sh!t.
I started looking at it after that Sky Guy guy posted a few Zero Hedge links. That site has a terrible track record, it's for hipster douchebag conspiracy fucktards......predicting 8 of the last zero economic collapses. Lol Hank isn't a hipster.

I'm amazed that Seattle's City Council can be so stupid. Do they really think the tax won't have an effect on purchases within the city, when consumers can just stock up on soda whenever they drive past the city limit boundary? Just like the Seattle gun ammo tax, everyone buys their ammo out of town.
Just as the high taxes on cigarettes doesn't affect me, the soda tax won't either, because I don't live in Seattle and don't often drink soda. Now the high WA state taxes on alcohol, that is another matter altogether . . . I'm surprised that you're surprised.

Surprise surprise. Sbux bottled Fraps with WAY MORE sugar than almost all soft drinks just happens to be....wait for it....wait for it.....exempt! A 24oz fruity Frappychino has twice the calories of a 24oz soda. Gatorade and Red Bull (among others) will have the tax applied as well. How many calories in the jizz loads you're slurping down in Cali?
