Hello, from University of Washington, Olympic Natural Resources Center (ONRC).
As part of an important research project that seeks to describe the scientific basis for validation monitoring of salmonids for conservation and restoration plans, we are working on compiling a list of all groups (state and federal agencies, tribes, watershed groups, non-government organizations) involved in counting salmonids in fresh waters of Washington State.
This inventory of entities counting salmonids will be the basis for a valuable tool for salmon conservation. The following questions serve to determine the extent of counting efforts throughout the state. Our goal is to expand this first level of information into a comprehensive, searchable data base of salmon enumeration, archived at ONRC.
Please help us by taking just a few minutes to provide the following information:
Did you know any organization that counted fish at any time from 1995 through 2000?
If yes, name of the project/department/individual: _________________________________________________________________________
Watershed/WRIA: _________________________________________
What did they count? Check all that apply.
_____ Eggs
_____ Escaping Adults (wild or hatchery)
_____ Redds
_____ Harvested Adults (wild or hatchery)
_____ Fry
_____ Spawners (wild or hatchery)
_____ Juveniles
_____ Adults returning to hatchery)
_____ Smolts
_____ Jacks
Can you refer us to others who may be counting salmon?_____________________________________
