He was great in everything he was in. Even Quaker Oats commercials. He was really good in the Firm as the tough guy "Firm Enforcer". Not his typical grandpa style role....came off as a true menace.

Back in college, I convinced one of my dumber roommates that Ol' Wilfred was in old 70's Pornos...hence the stache. "The Dirty Quaker" and all that. We got some good laughs outta that one.

Went hiking with a buddy of his over the weekend and he said he was knock-knock-knocking at deaths door.

I guess he was a pretty big deal in his radio days, but that must have been before my time, all I knew Pat as was the fast/smooth talkin' rehab shock therapy guy.

Pat O'Day was a disc jocky on KJR AM radio when it was the top rock and roll station in the Seattle and Puget Sound region in the 1960s. He was also a rock concert promoter, bringing many of the biggest name popular rock bands to the region in those days. Pat O'Day was a household name, even down in back woods south Thurston County.

It must be simply mind blowing to have gone from written stone tablets to the internets in one's singular lifetime.

Don't forget to take your morning Metamucil and yell at the clouds.

Pat O'Day will mostly be remembered for giving John Maynard his 1st job over here...and his name.

...hey kid, don't like your name, you're John Maynard now.

How can there be four posts about Pat O'Day and no mention that he was THE voice of the hydroplane races?

So, by default...the voice of Seafair.

Not as big of a deal anymore as it used to be, but when I was a kid it was one of the biggest, purely Seattle, events every year.

Fish on...

Pat O'Day was a recovering alcoholic and did commercials for Schick Shadel.

Reminds me I recorded a hydroplane special the other night I want to watch.

Yes, Skeletor himself...probably the single most damaging politician to Washington sportfishing in the history of the state.

He is exactly the reason why you don't want the commercial seafood industry involved in politics. I hope he choked on a fish stick.

Fish on...
