Why are college kicker's so awful ? The goal posts are much wider than the NFL's. I can remember kicking 30-40 yard field goals at least at 50-60 percent back in HS, granted I wasn't kicking through a defense or crowd noise and pressure. I think there are so few younger player's that don't want such a thankless/unglamorous job. Meanwhile the NFL kickers are so much better than 20-30 years ago. Any thoughts on this?

While I agree with all the things said about kickers in general, and this kid in specific...the college goal posts have been the same width as pro posts for quite a while...those amazing kickers in the 80s were kicking at the wider goal posts.
