Just read that the Tulalip Tribe filed an intent to sue under the endangered species act that the 4D regulations are not strict enough to save salmon fishery.

Article said the tribe had to turn to crab fishery to make a go of it now that salmon is gone. (Editorial comment: From what I can see with the number of pot lines out there, crab won't last very long as it's being fished very hard - no crab hatcheries either)

I get this foreboding feeling that while the goal of saving salmon is excellent, we sports fisherman in Possession/Port Gardner/Snohomis areas will be impacted since I suspect we would be the first to get closed down.

Isn't that just a wonderful thing they are proposing! Apparently they have forgotten the fact that they also have had an impact on the resource along with the rest of us. Also, how about that story by Wayne Kruse and the crap that Mr. Kraemer spewed out about us sportfishers. Why didn't he as the main pusher of this closure, seek comment from the public on his own instead of waiting for it to be published? I personally have written the WDFW and Commission on several occassions and have received very little response. I couldn't even get a response from them regarding the legal boundary for the Wallace River mouth for the coho season. I had to track down an enforcement officer to get the answer. Yea, they are REEEEEEEEAL RESPONSIVE to sportfishers! I plan to write a letter to him directly or the WDFW but am too mad to think straight right now!

Chum what did you find out about the mouth of the Wallace now that no Sky water comes down by the train bridge?

This may be off the subject, but where is the legal boundary for the mouth of the Wallace?? I assume, its were it dumps into the Sky, because any fish above there is heading up the Wallace not the Sky. BTW, i never did catch a silver on the Wallace(or see one caught), the Sky proved to be more successful. Lockjaw fever had set in i guess.

I was told by an enforcement officer and then the Sgt from this area that the mouth of the Wallace officially begins at the downstream side of the lower most BNSF railroad bridge. I was told this is because the boundary was determined by the ordinary high water mark established by the Sky.
Hope this helps. I too fished that a couple times this season and there was just too little water . I've taken baths in tubs deeper than the Wallace.
