I don't think it was GW's drive and intelligence that earned him the keys to the Oval Office. I'm fairly certain it was nepotism, and an especially atrocious example of it at that. Everything GW has "accomplished" throughout his career has been on the coattails of his old man.

I think most of us can easily think of a few people we've worked with that had absolutely no business being in their positions. In this world, who you know will get you a LOT further than what you know, and GW should be the poster boy for that reality.

The man was, and still is, an idiot, albeit a rich and "successful" one.
