Husky Alum, diehard fan... usually listening on the car radio or watching tv, as opposed to a devout fan, who has tickets, tailgates and wears purple on weekdays, as well as on Saturday.

It was great to watch a game that actually counted towards a team's season record, and not a Seahawk preseason game featuring second and third stringers struggling to put Warren Moon to sleep. Watching butter soften on the kitchen counter at room temperature would likely cause the heart rate of a preseason Seahawk fan to redline.

The Husky/Eastern game provided more excitement and suspense than most people expected. Coaches, players, and fans all learned a lot about the two programs yesterday. Many of Eastern's players feel they could play Division 1 football. Give Eastern a Chris Polk caliber of runner, and their team could be competitive at the top level. No Husky shame in the narrow victory yesterday.

My biggest concern for the Huskies is the number of injuries players are dealing with early in the season. Kearse, Polk, Richardson, Dennison, and Price are among those whose nagging injuries could become serious problems as the season wears on. Husky bowl hopes hang on the health of these players.

Congrats to the Cougars! Too bad about Tuel; hope his recovery is quick.
