Finally just saw this one ... Whether the number is 7%, 77%, or .7% ... when the fish are harvested in a situation where you don't know the origin of the stock ... it's bad news, and the days of fishing this way have to come to an end if the salmon runs anywhere will have long-tewrm viability.

It's not a matter of who's taking the fish, it's a matter of the non-selectivity ... is that king on the deck of the commercial boat (or a sport landing net) from a healthy coastal stock, or from a small stream with just a few spawning pairs left?? Personally, I don't like seeing any fishery (sport or commercial) that targets mixed stocks in which we have virtually no idea where the fish is bound for.

Tell me, does it make sense to spend a few hundred thousand enhancing habitat on a little stream if the fish can't even make it back??
