It's ok for employers to fire employees for any reason that's not prohibited by law...and if anyone employed by me made any bigoted statements I'd shitcan them, too.

Phil can't have it both ways...he can't judge people based on what's in the Bible, then say he doesn't...all the while being a total hypocrite himself for violating a plethora of Bible prohibitions right there in the exact same book.

He may be trying to not sound like a complete waste of air like Slappy does all the time, but it doesn't make him any more of a valuable air user, either, to think the exact same way.
