I go fishing to have a good time and relax a little. However when I see people poaching I get madder than h***. These two facts are obviously in conflict. If you tell these morons to stop poaching they are probably going tell you to fly a kite or worse yet I have seen guys almost get in a fight. So the question is what to do about the poachers?

Recently I was fishing the North Fork of the Stilly (in July) right at Deer Creek and across the river and a couple of Goobers where plunking just upstream at there little campground. You need to understand I am not a fly snob, I’ll use a gob of eggs or some shrimp, but only when legal to do so. Anyway I yell to friend to use his cell phone (which he didn’t really even have) to call the poaching hotline. So the Goobers think better of their little plunking scheme and pull their plunking pole out of the water. Now they could of gone back to poaching after I left, but I felt better and I didn’t have to start any conflicts. I believe that if more true fisherman did more to say something to the poachers it would improve the situation.
