It's off to a good start. I actually stayed up until 12:30. Haven't done that for a couple years. Kinda' chilly this morning, so I started a fire in the fireplace to warm the place up. Got lots of leftovers still, so snacks aplenty to last through the game.

I'm going to wait until the working class has all gone back to work, and then I'll head out fishing for a coupla' days.

Rule 1 for ungulate hunting is always hunt uphill from the vehicle.
Rule 2 is if you violate Rule 1, hunt downhill to a road.

Sounds like a couple of nice fish. Have seen hundreds of steelies but they were almost all creek fish. Biggest was 16-17 pounds. My boss C&R'd a 20+ on the Skagit about 40 years ago, which is probably the largest my circle of friends played with.

Eh - I disagree. Rule 1 is getting up in the middle of the night, get to the top of the mountain under the cloak or darkness to intercept em' coming back up the hill to bed after feeding.


Back to Steelies, a 23 - 24 pound hatch is a TOAD. So congrats! I'm still searching for my first 20 and based on how much I fish these days, I'll be searching forever. It's the #1 priority on my fishing and hunting bucket list. I have big aspirations for the Skagit and Sauk this spring.
