REQUEST FOR NOMINATIONS
Anadromous and Marine Resources Sport Fishing Advisory Group
Commercial Salmon Fishing Advisory Group
The Department of Fish and Wildlife is accepting nominations through December 7, 2000 for membership on the Anadromous and Marine Resources Sport Fishing Advisory Group and the Commercial Salmon Fishing Advisory Group.

Purpose
The purpose of the Sport Fishing Advisory Group is to advise the Department on issues affecting recreational fisheries and essential habitat for salmon and marine fish species. The purpose of Commercial Salmon Fishing Advisory Group, a transformation of the previous Commercial Fishing Advisory Group, is to advise the Department on issues affecting commercial salmon and sturgeon fisheries in the Columbia River, ocean, Willapa Bay, Grays Harbor and Puget Sound.

Meetings
Up to twenty individuals will be chosen to serve as advisors to each group for the 2001 calendar year. Individuals may be re-appointed for additional terms. It is anticipated that the advisors will meet as a group three or four times per year, including the North of Falcon process. Typically, we plan to arrange for joint meetings of both groups to discuss issues of common interest, but will arrange separate meeting times as appropriate to address strictly recreational or commercial issues. In addition, other meetings and conference calls with selected advisors may be required to address regional issues. The Department of Fish and Wildlife's budget constraints require advisors to be responsible for their own travel expenses.

Expectations of Advisory Group Members
Expectations for an advisor include meaningful participation in the North-of-Falcon process, and attendance at scheduled meetings of the advisory group. Participation in the North-of-Falcon meetings will require advisors to remain informed on the issues pertinent to their areas of concern, but does not require attendance at every meeting. The Department also utilizes the advisors to provide objective assessments, based on experience and first hand knowledge, about the nature and conduct of fisheries and how they can be shaped to optimally meet conservation needs of various stocks and harvest objectives. In addition, advisors shall act as communication links between the Department and members of the sport fishing communities in their areas, transmitting key information. For example, the Department expects advisors to communicate regularly with local constituents about the context and reasons for various policy and fishery decisions.

Interactions with Other Advisory Groups
Intermittently interaction among these and other advisory groups may be appropriate to address regional or statewide issues across species. For instance, the Department may schedule periodic, respective meetings of commercial or recreational fishery and industry representatives in the different fishing sectors.

Submitting Nominations
Any group or individual may submit nominations. Advisors will be chosen based on their experience in the fisheries, willingness to engage in the management process, and their ability to communicate with fishery managers and other recreational and commercial fishers or organizations. Nominees do not need to be affiliated with an organized group.

Nominations must be accompanied by a resumé of the nominee, including the following information:

Name, address, and telephone number of nominee
Experience (specify the amount and kind of experience including species and areas of interest); reason(s) for interest in being an advisor
Description of how communications will occur with regional constituents to relay information from the management process and assist productive communication with the Department
Name, address, and telephone number of individual or organization submitting nomination
