A few weeks back, I went fishing with my neighbor on the Monroe Run. When it was time for lunch I pulled out a banana from my lunch bag. When my neighbor say the banana he said that he could not believe that I had brought a banana on his boat. He requested that I throw the banana out of his boat. I thought he was joking, but he made it clear that it was strictly forbidden & vary bad voodoo to bring a banana on the boat & to through it out. I did so, but only after I had eaten it. We did not have a singal take down that day & was told it was caused by me bring the banana on the boat. Could Some please clarify the significancy of not bring this harmless piece of fruit on board a driftboat?

Even though there has been some fun about the affect of bananas on fishing on this BB lately, I can tell you are concerned about it; so I will tell you like it really is. Even at the risk of sounding like a condescending an*l retentive . A banana in your boat can't cause bad fishing luck. It can only cause superstitious people to focus on a folly factor they aren't sure about so 'better be safe than sorry' mentality. Also, if fish don't like the scent of bananas, they dislike the scent of human [Bleeeeep!] even more. But neither sneak out enough bad fish scent from their encapsulation to float over onto your fishing gear to affect anything but a non-thinking guy's head; with perhaps the exception of a night of bad burritos before going fishing. And if banana scent does bother fish, you can simply wash your hands in a good fishing soap or Lemon Joy and rinse thoroughly; as you would after expunging yourself. And for every guy who swears that a banana in his boat caused a lack of fish there are just as many that have caught fish with them in their boat, including me many times. So forget about the frickin 'Nanas and keep you hands clean and focus on your fishing. Pretty simple .
