What's the attraction to Manitoba Avid?

BTW, I've lived here all my life, and I've never been to Minter Creek either.

I think it goes back to when I was a kid and Jerry Mckinnis did a fishin hole episode up there . I like the wilderness aspect of it. I can catch steelhead in the Russian river but it isnt the same as fishing russia.

You are really missing something Sg.
I always stop by there on my way back from the canal after cutt fishing to watch people fish for chums. The comedy is great.
I once saw a dude fishing there with his motorcycle helmet on.
Lead shrapnel protection......

Speaking of Minnesota.
I'll be there in a few weeks. I hope to pop my northern pike cherry.
A musky would be a bonus.
An added bonus is it is pre-spawn time for smallies right now.
Have seen multiple pictures this week of 20'+ smallmouth with one over pig 6 lbs.
A 6 lb smallie on a fly rod would be a blast.

Tell you what, those golden dorados in south america are insane. I could take 3 trips though for the price of one. I'm wanting to do SE Alaska like POW island for steelhead or Haida Gwaii. Fish some of those tanin stained waters .

It's always nice to think about bucket list fisheries, but I would give anything to fish the streams and lakes I fished when I was young....and the way they produced then. They're either closed or fished out or mismanaged. Take time to appreciate it when old-timers tell their stories of the way it was.

I have no idea where this Minter Crick chitshow is and it's going to stay that way.

Stoney, you'll love Mini-soda. You'll get your Pike for certain. Musky is a LONG, LONG, LONG shot. Smallies on a fly rod (or any rod) are fun, STRONG fish. Pound for pound, they are the hardest fightin' fresh water fish around. Walleye for the skillet would be a great bonus. The weather & bugs are psycho, so plan accordingly.

My list:
Alaska (WTF?)
Costa Rica
Panama
New Zealand
The Amazon
Ascension
Tierra Del Fuego
Hawaii
Scotland & the UK
Australia
Kenya (offshore)
Any of the west African counties (offshore)

Having some bucket list fishing trips provides some fun to look forward to. And then in hindsight they offer good thoughts, feelings, and images to look back upon. Without giving it much thought, when the movie, Bucket List, came out I quickly penciled out my own personal bucket list of things to do. So I went to Kamchatka, Alaska (Bristol Bay and SE), the Dean and return trips to the Skeena system in B.C., Ascencion Bay, Mexico, did a bicycle tour of Italy, and built a house to round things out.

I'm glad I had Kamchatka on my list. It's that different. Probably what Alaska must have been like 60 or more years ago. Speaking of time, I agree with Snake; I'd love to go back in time and fish the NF Stilly, Kalama, and EF Lewis as I knew them in the 1970s. I had no idea then that the fishing available then would all be in past tense when the 21st century arrived. Get after it while you can. Or invent a time machine.
