Need to be in Olympia for the NSIA meeting on Thursday. If I got to cross the pass, might as well try and fish half a day somewhere nearby. Any suggestions? Thanks for any possible replies.

I have heard that there a some Chums trickling into the Nisqually. McCalister Creek which is right by the Nisqually has some Chum in it and also does Mud bay. If you want to travel a little bit farther south you can hit the Cowlitz River which is about 45 minute out of Olympia and there some really nice Steelhead being caught at Blue Creek.

The Wynooche is about 30 minutes west just east of Aberdean. It's worth trying.

Dave,

Assuming it's Snoqualmie that you're coming over, you'll drive right over the Green (Hwy 18) in prime fishing territory. Also, as Osprey mentioned, you'll only be a few minutes from good spots on the Puyallup. Other choices put you out over a half hour's drive from your route to get to fishable water, which may be a consideration, depending how long that half day is.

Good luck!

Sincerely,

Salmo g.
