Fishing rules have become so complex I thought I should read the WDFW booklet to brush up on the latest and greatest.

And, I found a rule I didn't know about!!

SKYKOMISH RIVER, FROM SULTAN RIVER TO THE FORKS:

"FISHING FOR GAME FISH FROM ANY FLOATING DEVICE PROHIBITED FROM 8:01 AM AUGUST 1 to MARCH 31."

Is this new?

Last year I saw lots of people fishing from boats between the high bridge at Gold Bar and Sultan during the winter steelhead season, not to mention from sleds at the mouth of the Wallace.

Or am I just reading it wrong?

Interpretations?

Steely, I read that early this year and was surprised, didn't fish up there much until this year. Some of the guys I work with fish the upper Sky a lot and didn't believe me when I told them about the rule, since then they have found out for themselves.
I take it from their response this was the first year for that rule.

Good fishing

The rule that you guys have brought up is only for the section of river around Reiter Ponds. It has been in the rule book that way for a couple of years now. I have checked on this as have many others with fish & game and it only pertains to that one section of river around Reiter Ponds. It was wordrd bad and that is why there is so much confusion. You can fish from a boat above Sultan. If you look at the time 8:01 August 1st to March 31st thoughs are the days that reiter opens and the day it closes.

JG is correct. The rule applys only to the area immediately around Reiter, allowing bank anglers preference to that area.
