As for floats I like the Thill floats, as for jigs I go with the Rainbow Jigs, 7 different styles in 5 sizes with hooks that hold Steelhead!

It's my understanding that it will be up and running in January. The webmaster has all the pictures and info and the domain name has been registered..........it will be www.rainbowjigs.com. Should be a neat site, can't wait to see it!

I also like to tip my jigs with a chunk of prawn or sometimes a shrimp tail.

Here is a link to a site that I created earlier this year. Paul Jensen's Custom Jigs http://www.angelfire.com/biz2/jighead/index.html Paul makes fine custom jigs, and always sends extra. ------------------ "Just Say No To Sovereign Nations!"

I have been fishing whole sand shrimp under a float for the last few trips. No takers, but it looks dang good. I have been hooking em on so that they hang head down, kinda threading em on like a worm. Little shot of Dr.Juice or Mikes. Any better ideas or comments?
I used to fish Leo's jig's at the Blue Zoo on the Cowlitz. Actually met Leo one day in Salkum. Caught a bunch on those.

Hey Gutz,
I see no reason why the sand shrimp by themseleves would not work. You know where I am at we can't get our hands on sand shrimp so use primarily whole tiger shrimp (they may be a prawn for all I know). We hook them with two single hooks, one in the head, one in the tail and fish them below a float. Both steelhead and chinook take the offering. Most of our shrimp we color, bright red being the most popular. They can be hardened considerably by placing them on rock salt for a day or two before fishing. Good luck to you.

Guts:
I run just a straight sand shrimp tail under a float on the Kalama most of the time and I have had pretty good luck on it, especially with the steelhead and especially from this time of year on through about May.
Missed you at the clean-up. Hope to see you on the river again. Good luck. Tad
