What the hell kind of name is Kraken?

I've not been following this (i.e., really don't give a [Bleeeeep!] about hockey) but what was wrong with Steelhats?

Great name actually and my second choice after Steelhead.

DBS - do you really not know what the Kraken is? Uh...Google? With the Seattle area Scandinavian history, Kraken is pretty much perfect.

The logo needs some work though. Looks like they phoned that one in. Sorry to whichever production graphics director came up with that, but please try again and this next time, please try harder.

I forsee every time the Kraken's score a goal on a home game, squid are tossed out on to the ice.

On a good game, half the ice in the arena should be stained with squid ink.

When I saw a headline today saying "Washington's football team to call itself Washington Football Team " I was all, WTF? What's wrong with Seahawks?

At the beginning of the game the announcer could say "release the krackheads".

I reviewed the new logos on the team website and they explain why they are why they are. OK - scratch what I said. I'm good with the look now. At least they didn't make it a cartoon Kraken or something lame like that. It could be a LOT worse I suppose.

Anyway, I'm all for this for Seattle and the state. Good good all around and slap-puck probably is the most exciting, non-stop action team sport to watch on TV. We friggin' need it or at least I do.
