Channeling spirits opens doorways which are difficult to close, you also don't ever know who/what you are actually channeling and generally these things stay with you after they have latched on to influence you and feed off your energy source. Getting advice from unknown entities, allowing them to enter your physical body and to take over has a price and is not safe..

Ignorance of these things is probably the 2nd worse place to be in regards to your safety.

Understanding that you are your own gatekeeper, but being aware that other things are going on around you in the world that you cant see with your eyes most of the time, knowing those things pose a real danger but understanding that you control access to yourself keeps you safe.

Being aware and engaging these things in attempt to gain an advantage or knowledge is the most dangerous way to approach it. Everything has a price and you don't really know what these things are,, they are not God that is for sure. They give you nothing for free..

Being totally unaware is nearly as bad as participating with them for a purpose, it generally leaves your door open without you having awareness that the door needs to be guarded and maintained, especially if you have no God or religion in your life, earth worship is the worship of another being and does not count as God...

There was an interesting situation reported in the social science literature. Apparently somebody looked at voter response to protest and riots. Following non-violent protests, voters supported the left. Following riots, they supported the right. When a reporter wrote on this for a liberal/progressive paper/site he was fired.

Apparently, the left (in this case) does not want to criticize justifiable anger as being counter-productive to long-term solutions.

The rioters don't represent the peaceful protesters, and the vigilantes don't represent the will of the majority of American citizens. They're all selfishly-motivated and counterproductive to their alleged causes.

I say (only half jokingly) we should let the rioters and the vigilantes fight it out. If they wipe each other out, we'll be rid of the extreme viewpoints that are dominating the political parties, and we can all get back to behaving sort of moderately and responsibly again.
