This one's coming full circle and finally going to get a solid looking into... So what was the China virus?
Was it from a bat as we've been told all along or was it made at the Wuhan Institute of Virology?

Or, what I think is more likely, it was from a bat and they were studying the virus or, trying to isolate it to study, in the institute. Even possible that the virus muted in the lab while they were studying it and then spread to humans. All they have to do is point to where it naturally occurs and claim that is where it came from. Proving they were the original transmission point could be harder.

We have the genetic capabilities to trace back the initial arrivals in the US and other countries. Some of the reports I have seen say most of the US invasion came in through NY from Europe. Also seen reports and suggestions that a somewhat less virulent form was here in the US as early as November. Unfortunately, at that time we weren't looking.
When I worked with fish diseases the pathologists regularly tried to remind folks that we can't say "It's not here" because we haven't looked for it. Same with Covid, the world started looking when people started to die.

South park covered this pretty well, maybe too many details.

Several people I know were sick with a flu for a month or more in the fall of 2019 or early pre-pandemic in early 2020. Some had viral pneumonia. It seems like a lot of people had similar experiences. My wife was very sick after a trip to Philadelphia in Fall 2019. She sounded like a bullfrog and had a cough for nearly 2 months after a week and a half in bed. I think it was when nursing homes had people dying at such high rates that it was accepted to be something new and dangerous.

The first case in the states was the man from Snohomish county who tested positive in Jan 20 when he flew into Sea Tac from Wuhan. My mother in law got if at her assisted living facility in Portland back in March 20. Two nurses got it in the memory care unit but my father in law never got it. My youngest son thinks he had it in Feb 20 as he was very sick for a week.
It will be interesting to see what the investigation finds. Most likely some of those dingbat Chinese scientists were bitten by bats. I don't know about those conspiracy theories that China was trying to create it to wreak havoc on the world.

The first confirmed identified case. There is a big difference between that and the first case. Plus, the stuff I have seen suggests that the initial variants of C-19 were not particularly deadly nor particularly transmissible. It would seem quite possible that quite a few folks were carriers but avoided disease. This seems to be what is happening in India; the bug finally mutated to a vicious bugger; before it mutated enough folks had strong enough immune systems.

It does not have to even be a big conspiracy. China does not always seem to be kind to people who mess up. Example>>>> The death penalty handed out to a former Chinese finance chief found guilty of corruption has been heavily criticised by human rights groups. Lai Xiaomin was arrested in 2018 on charges of taking 1.8bn yuan (£200m, $280m) in bribes over a 10-year period.
It seems perfectly reasonable that those in charge of the lab would try to cover it up, especially if they were careless or doing research they were not supposed to. From there the cover up could continue, as each in the cog does not want to face the consequences.

A new study alleges – "now beyond a reasonable doubt" – Chinese scientists not only cooked up COVID-19 in a lab, but they covered it up, and silenced potential whistleblowers.
After being ignored in their claims of possessing "prima facie evidence" for a year, British Professor Angus Dalgleish and Norwegian scientist Dr. Birger Sørensen are coming out with a paper outlining proof of their findings...
