Can anyone give me feedback on the Shimano Crosair CS300 or CS400 reel for Salmon/Steelheads? I have a chance to pick up one of each for $40.00 each. Before I do want to get feedback if it is a reliable reel and suited for river fishing for Silvers and Steelheads? Thanks in Advance, Jduck1

I have been a huge shimano fan for years but I haven't bought any of the newer ones because I'm not a fan of the thumb bars(my personal hang-up). So I can't say much about the Corsiar. However, I also own several 5000 and 5500's. I compare them to the blue collar worker, they just go to work everyday and get the job done!!! So if you are going to spend 40-70$ I would definately recommend the 5500. Great reel for the begginner or the expert.

Yup, can the Corsair
Presently, Ambassador is offering a $15 rebate for most of their reels. At a retail of $65, you'd only be paying $50 for a 5500.

jduck1 Forget the Corsair, they are not very reliable.Overall a very weak reel. Go with the flow and buy a abu garcia 5500C3.They are a good value, and will give you years of good service. If you do need a part the price will be resonable, and available just about anywhere that services reels. Good Fishing

I don't know much about the corsair but I am starting to buy more and more shimano. I fish the Curado for bait casters and Symetre for the spining. I won't consider any other brand I like these so much!!!
