Us as well, out of 23 entries between my son and me.
He's not a yoot anymore in this state, but he is for New Mexico still. We'll head there in late Nov for his mule deer tag, and then wait until his Oryx tag opens in Dec and hopefully come home with a couple of critters.

White Sands Oryx is on my bucket list Snit. I know a NM guy that's really into it and he says it's as tasty or even tastier than Elk.
Drew 2nd deer per normal. They changed the season to be from Aug 1st - Dec 31st for that tag, which is perfect to allow for plenty of fall naps and still fill the freezer.
I'm not sure if I'll wet side Elk hunt this year. My fall is lining up to be extremely busy, but I might be able to sneak out a few days here or there. We'll see!

If you have shed the archery elk bug after having a huge bull in your face then something here doesn't add up.

Knick, it's an "off-base tag" so we can hunt a variety of areas. A good friend of mine that I worked with at my last gig is a licensed NM guide. For 15 years prior he worked in the fall for an outfitter guiding dudes for elk, deer, oryx, and ibex. Kids season is for December, and my buddy had the same tag last year. He shot his bull about an hour from his house, and it didn't take him long to find a decent bull. Hopefully, the kid has a good chance at seeing some critters and gets to throw some lead. We'll stay at my friend's joint. Oh yeah, friend says it's the best N-American game meat he's ever had!
His deer tag will be the challenge as the season is Nov 20-28, which is over a month before the rut. The unit is really big but doesn't have a lot of deer (really known for elk though). BUT...if you see a buck there's a real good chance it could be 200"! The plan is to make one trip; hunt deer, come out, and drive to buddies place. Scout for oryx for a couple of days until the season opens, then...opportunity presents itself...boom-flop. 24-drive home (hopefully naps).
Glad you got bambi tag! Did you shoot an elk last year?

Nope. The fires toasted my early season and by late season, all the Elk were down munching hay on private land. I did take several nice armed nature hikes though, so I had that going for me, which was nice.

Welcome to Wa big game hunting (wash, rinse, repeat..) as you know. We tell ourselves “it’s the experience and the outings that really matters”, but killing critters is pretty important too. Here’s to better luck this season!

I drew Observatory quality elk this year, archery. Cautiosly optomistic for a good hunt although these early drought conditions and hot weather aren't boding well for E side hunting in September!

None for me as well. Good luck to everyone as they plan their hunts this year.
