Phil Steele's, at least...he usually bucks the conventional wisdom, and is usually right a lot more often than he's wrong.
His pre-season Top 25 has the Pac-12 looking pretty tough this year.
Arizona State at #21 Oregon at #19 Utah at #15 USC at #13 Washington at #9
From what I've seen, that's by far the highest anyone has ranked the Huskies so far, and though they looked really good last year, last year was about as weird as it gets for football.
Looking forward to an actual football season this year!
Fish on...
Todd

Pro Football Network has the Pac 12 teams as:
Utah at #22 Washington at #16 Arizona State at #13 USC at #10 Oregon at #7
ESPN:
Arizona State at #24 Washington at #15 USC at #13 Oregon at #10
Pretty divergent opinions among the "experts"...but it's nice to see the Pac-12 well-represented in most of the major rankings.

P12 needs to win some big out of conference games to be relevant, and they have the opportunity right out of the gate. The Dawgs have the talent, need to beat Mich and Oregon this season and keep the elite talent(JT, Emeka, etc...) home. Looking forward to fall football and fishing, this summer has been to f'n hot so far

Agreed on the non-conference games...if the Huskies beat Michigan then that will catch a lot of attention.

Definitely agree they need to starting keeping local talent at home. A lot has flowed out of conference recently and will continue to do so until the PAC 12 gets their [Bleeeeep!] together and becomes legit again. Not having Luxury Larry Scott as conference commissioner is hopefully a start to better things.
It will be nice to go fishing this fall and come home, watch some ball while having some good grub and adult beverages.
About 60 days until kickoff.
What is everyone’s opinion on the NIL ruling? I think it is going to definitely change college sports and really divide the have and have not schools.....and players. The money will create some jealousies and I think you’ll see the transfer portal be even more active as guys not only look for more playing time but more earning potential. SF

Last year's PAC12 performance set the bar low, hope is the best plan.

I think they need to modify or do away with the transfer portal, having everyone go to the highest bidder at the beginning of their college career is one thing, having everyone up for sale every year would be really tough on most schools. I think it will be fine for most big schools, there are millions of dollars in the Tyee Club that would love to end up in the pockets of big time college football players, and that's going to be true for a lot of schools; but it's not going to be true for 70% of the schools that don't have that kind of financial backing. Fish on... Todd Agreed. I also wonder about how some positions will feel regarding what other players are earning. Say for instance Spencer Rattler from Oklahoma is pulling in big $$$$ while his o-line is making little, yet they are responsible for much of his success. That obviously happens in the pros but now it will be in the college game as well. I really think the NCAA could have avoided this, but they were slow to respond or not willing to change and got their asses handed to them. I also think some companies will end up regretting their relationships if the performance on the field of the player is lacking. SF

I guarantee that money has been funneling to players at almost every major college football program for decades, this is a convenience for the NCAA to not have to regulate as much. I doubt it will help or hurt the game much. In regards to transfers if you are a 5* recruit backing up 5* at Bama, why not transfer to a lesser program and get some playing time? The portal may spread out talent for kids who are good athletes, however, are stuck behind even better ones, giving them a second opportunity in a system they may be better in

Water polo in Waterloo isn’t going to get any love and on the other hand, we all know who and what makes all the money for schools. It’s America so monetize all you want to. Georgia’s problem is they have all the 5 star recruits and then they end up transferring to play so you are definitely on to something.

Does this mean Any tom, Nick, or paker is in charge of the ncaa picks this year? Probably the only thing that the board has done well besides exposing Minter creek.

I'd like to do the picks this year but I don't want a conflict of interest. I need to pay back but if I win will anybody whine?

It has gone well because I invented it. My vote is for Steelheadman to run it this year. I'll be too busy this fall and mostly, I just don't want to.
