A couple weeks ago I got done with my cataract surgeries. They actually just replace your lenses nowaday. I opted for powered lenses. The results are AMAZING!

I've never had any kind of surgery before so I was scared but this was a piece of cake. Now I can see distance without any glasses and my vision now is crystal clear and colors pop. (I did give up my near vision in exchange so I need reading glasses now for closeup work, but it's well worth it!)

For those of us who have spent much of our free time on the water with the sun reflecting into our eyes, we can get really bad cataracts earlier than others. I think of all the times I watched my line drift through the reflecting sun while I only cared about catching the fish.

So you young'ns take care of your eyes and you over 50s, get the surgery if your eye doctor says it's time.

You're lucky, DBS. My wife had here cataracts done in April/May and just picked up her glasses because distance vision is worse than pre-surgery. And she got the multi lenses, too.

Well sorry to hear that, Carcassman.

My lenses are monofocal if that makes any diff. They are pegged to work from about 4 ft to infinity. But in trade I need farsighted correction (reading glasses).

I assume Eyefish doesn't frequent the darkside or he could probably add some info.

She's not happy. The eyes are still settling down so there may be some improvement still but surgery was not a magic fix. Distance vision was critical to her as she doesn't mind readers. The new glasses, picked up yesterday, allowed her to read road signs, though. And since she has a drive from South Carolina to WA in her near future, that is really needed.

Did the RLE back in March, very good results, I went with the multi focal lenses.
Didn't much care for the part where he disintegrated the existing lense with an ice pick and sucked it out with a vacuum, effectively blinding me momentarily, was interesting to see him unfurl the rolled up new lense and have vision again.
Have one last follow up appt next week and he may "clean up" some scar tissue with a lazer ...then I expect to have vision similar to Steve Austin.

Doc's (Eyefish) only advice against the procedure was to wait until I was old and covered by Medicare then he would do it, I went to Dr. easy in easy out Kopstein in the Renton office.
