Was in Portland recently and can confirm it’s looking pretty $hitty in some parts ... The town does have an air of lawlessness. You just see signs of petty crime everywhere. People are straight loco for paying what they pay for an ordinary house on an ordinary street in that town ... Another weird thing is you just don’t see kids playing anywhere outside except parks and under parental supervision. It does not feel like a family friendly town anymore. I've been going through Portland about once a month for the last several years. I agree completely with this. I don't even like getting off the freeway there anymore and I won't leave my car out of my sight in that city. Notice that all the crime is in areas that don't allow carry of loaded guns or even loaded magazines without a CPL that they won't give to out of state residents. Total fvcking bullsh!t. Usually in Washington anytime I leave the house I have a a 9mm ghost gun, and anytime I leave the town I live in I take an AR-15 ghost gun with 6 loaded mags, a black ski mask, handcuffs and a knife in addition to the 9mm ghost gun but you can't have any of that loaded in Portland. So in Portland I bring a 20 gauge 16 inch barrel youth shotgun (because it's smaller and easier to maneuver around inside a car) with a half dozen shells of 00 buck in my pocket. Usually when there are sketchy people I put the black ski mask on just for the intimidation factor. If someone starts fvcking with you it's really easy slip and shell or two in and the click-clack of a shotgun is easily recognizable to anyone. Nobody fvcks with a guy wearing a black ski mask and holding a shotgun. Walking around Portland I always strap a KaBar to my belt and carry a 4 D-cell battery maglite in my hand to use as a club. You could also bring pepper spray or a taser if you don't feel like beating a scumbag junkie to death with a maglite or gutting them with a knife. Portland is a total sh!thole full of disgusting degenerates, criminals and junkies. Even worse than Seattle by far. Sounds like post Katrina (post as in right after it has bounced back a bit) New Orleans. Nice going, liberals.

Was in Portland recently and can confirm it’s looking pretty $hitty in some parts. Saw about 6 vehicles with personally added boots on them to stop theft. I saw about 6 roof top cargo boxes left wide open as to make it clear they are empty. Saw a lot of cars with broken windows.
Visited friends in a nice neighborhood and saw 2 POS cars full of derelicts looking for something to steal. These rigs were so [Bleeeeep!] and driving in circles through a neighborhood and very out of place.
The town does have an air of lawlessness. You just see signs of petty crime everywhere. People are straight loco for paying what they pay for an ordinary house on an ordinary street in that town.
Another weird thing is you just don’t see kids playing anywhere outside except parks and under parental supervision. It does not feel like a family friendly town anymore. https://www.ifish.net/threads/i-need-help-in-st-johns.1644646/A local perspective from fellow fishermen.. Thank you for raising my blood pressure to boiling…. Unfortunately that's the vast majority of the city now (PDX proper). I've had a CHL off and on for years, the only time I ever felt it necessary to carry was the last 6 months I lived in Portland. I don't want to carry a gun, my dicks small enough as is. When people post Portland has a low crime rate, it's bull sh!t, it's a low crime enforcement rate. And your sentiment on kids is 100% correct, we stopped letting the kids play in the street in 2019 and the final straw was when I pulled my gun on a tweaker rummaging through my garage at 3am. 0 fu@ks are given about the place by it's people, easily shown by the filth everywhere. I gladly traded Mormons for tweakers..

When people post Portland has a low crime rate, it's bull sh!t, it's a low crime enforcement rate. Portland actually has a high crime rate even with the low crime enforcement rate. "With a crime rate of 59 per one thousand residents, Portland has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities ... Importantly, when you compare Portland to other communities of similar population, then Portland crime rate (violent and property crimes combined) is quite a bit higher than average." - https://www.neighborhoodscout.com/or/portland/crime#description

I am not great on math, but these numbers seem about right to me. If the math is wrong, feel free to correct me.
The average car theft results in approx. a $9000 loss. Divide that by 59 and that means a loss of around $152 a year per car owner. While not everyone has their car stolen, most have insurance, and the cost is added in, along with administration costs. I would guess that auto theft is costing each car owner around $20 a month. For most families that probably is around $40 a month. Add in productivity losses, and it seems it would be better for anyone to start taking it seriously. I often see stolen cars in during work. Some sit there for a week or more before they are finally recovered. There was one down the street from me this week. This street probably has a sheriff drive down it 5-10 times or more a day. It sat there for a week. I saw on line that someone in the neighborhood tracked down the owner themselves and the owner recovered it. The laziness of the police in the area is disgusting.
There was one a few years back that had disabled plates veterans plates on it. It sat in the local school parking lot, parked across stalls, with all the windows open for about a week. I pointed it out to my kids on day one. The local deputies normally park in the lot to fill out paperwork. They decided against it for the entire week. I finally called it in and was told it was no private property so they would not do nothing, but if I got the license plate they would call the owner. I went back, got the plate and called it in. Looking it the windows, it was clear it had been vandalized. Drove by 2 hours later and it was gone. I would guess that it was passed by over 200 times or more during the week by the sheriff's department and probably another 50 or more by state patrol officers. But, I guess, it was too hard for them to stop and call it in. I see enough that I keep track of how long it will take for them to get recovered. Had another car nearby that was run into a fence on a parcel owned by Tacoma City light.. The back window was broken out. Again, this was on a fairly busy road. On average I see an officer go by around every 1 to 2 hours. It was over a week before it was tagged and called in.
But, I saw a great article recently about how they recovered a stolen car in just a few hours. Of course, the article did mention it was owned by a deputy.

How dare you refer to people in such derogatory ways. They are people with dwarfism! Person first language. You should educate yourself and stop following Donald Trump. Portland and a Seattle are amazing cities with amazing people and we need to look out and care for everyone! The people of these amazing cities need lots of love and support and we should start with free healthcare and basic universal income so they are provided the necessities they need to live their lives free of worry.
