Has anyone been up to the Skagit recently?
Was wondering if the eagles are plentiful and if there is anything left in the river for them to actively feed on.

thanks,

Don't know about the Skagit, but it's been a big year for eagle viewing on the Hoh. We're seeing about 12-15 per day and have seen more than 25 ... which compared to years past is a very nice improvement

The upper Skagit is loaded with Eagles this year.Look for them between Rockport and Marblemount. There seems to be plenty of food for them.Still some silvers swimming around up there.

The upper Sauk has had tons of Eagles this winter. A few years ago we counted 13 in one tree. My folks found a tree that had 15 in it a last month!

Yes there are some eagles on the Skagit. Before our big rain last week 550 were "supposedly" counted from Sedro to NewHalem. There was tons of food around for them until our big rain. Eagle numbers have dwindled drastically up here in the last week. Still lots around but not near the numbers we saw a week ago.

I saw a few eagles across from Concrete a week or so ago, and where I was fishing there was a nice fresh skeleton beneath a snag: looked like a steelhead or salmon.
Last summer I was fishing from a canoe in our local lake when my nephew, who was visiting from Minnesota paddled up in another canoe. He'd found a wounded perch and he gave it to me. Not knowing what I could possibly do with it, I let my niece release it. We'd drifted about fifteen feet away when an eagle descended and snatched it off the water. That was a fishing experience I never expected!
