Hey guys. Im looking to find a charter/guide recommendation for me and my father, whom is on 02 and in a chair if he has to walk more than 40ft. Illwaco to neah, doesn't matter. Preferably a smaller boat and not a 20man charter. Im afraid that this could be the last time he gets to ocean fish and would like for him to enjoy it. Any recommends are greatly appreciated. -Spoonfed

I'd recommend Randy Lato at https://www.allwaysfishing.com/ He fishes out of LaPush. He has a custom 28foot Olympic that I find pretty comfortable.I'm 79 and have been fishing with him for 20+ years. He takes pretty good care of me & I catch a lot of fish.

Randy is a good choice.

Is Jim Richeson still chartering out of La Push? Top Notch I think?

Tom Burlingame, Excel Charters, out of Neah Bay would be a good choice, too.

If you can get the boat, I would think Neah Bay would have to be the best choice. Kings can be found at the green can at the entrance to the harbor and silvers straight out. One of my favorite days was chasing herring balls that were being chased by sea bass. They were popping up all around the harbor entrance, less than a 5 minute trip from the launch. So, if the weathers a bit rough or your dad isn't feeling up to a long trip, all can be found, at times, within 5 to 10 minutes from the launch at big Salmon.

A few that should be able to help you get out on the water provided they have openings.
Tyee Charters
All Star Charters
Fish PNW Guide Service
Cut Plug Charter
I hope this helps and have fun on the water with your pops.

I fish regularly in area 10 for many years, mostly around the east side, West Point to the oil docks. The charters listed by stonefish are out there every day. We are old and slow so we start late and finish early. When we leave the ramp at Shilshole and turn the corner around the breakwater and see the All Start boat we know there is no reason to go any place else.

It may be difficult to find an open spot because coho fishing is hot right now and will probably stay hot for the next few weeks. I looked at the counts through the locks, almost 3300 for the first 5 days of the month and about 1300 on Wednesday alone. Wednesday morning was socked in but a crowd was out, we saw All Star a couple of times pass by. It was a typical trip for us ,launch about 7:15 and always several boats of early folk taking out with their limits. We fished about 3 1/2 hours, landed 3 keepers and lost about 5 (love those barbless hooks).

Did some looking around. Seems like the rates are about 7-900$ for 2 guys. 4-5 was kind of what i was thinking. Bummer.

I hadn’t looked at daily rates for a while. If I had a boat, I’d take you and your pops out. Unfortunately I don’t.
Maybe someone will have some open seats and can get you guys out on the water.
Another option to consider if your pops is mobile is to take the ferry to Whidbey and fish off the beach at the Bait Box. Bring some chairs and enjoy a day on the beach while fishing herring under a float.

Point Defiance still rents the small boats for a good rate.

Thanks Sf. We do have a boat, its at his place and hasn't been on the water in a couple years.(needs a few batteries and trailer is prob due for tires. He also sold his truck that we hauled it with and wanted to sell it. So now it sits. I may just try to get a rig and put a g into the boat and get it ready for next year. Ill need to get a set of riggers and should be dialed in. Thanks again fellas.
