Hey Grumpy and Townley-
Thanks for the info. I just left Saturday figured I'd figure it out. I put in off some road that went diagonal along Nooch Hwy and took out at Black Creek. Little did I know that was a long ass drift. I was talking to some dude and he said, "you takin' out at Black Creek."
I said, "Yeah."
He said, "you've got about 10 miles to go."
I thought to myself, 10 miles, no way (it's 3:30pm by the way). So I kept going down, rowing through the non-holding areas to speed things up just in case this guy was right. A few turns later I ran into another guy.
I said, "how far to Black Creek?"
He said, "about 7 miles."
By this time it was 4:15pm and I wanted to get to the launch before dark because I didn't know where it was because I'd never been there before. So I had to boogie the whole way down to get out by dark. I showed up by dark and somehow didn't miss the take-out. I didn't want to fish the Chealis. At least my buddy got a fish. One of the three I saw that day. Boy am I sore today. Real sore! Whoa!

Dom, Sounds like you put in at the Wishka Bridge. In case you haven't already figured it out, you started pretty late. I have gone with Dan S. when we put in at White Bridge and took out at Black Creek. It started snowing on us about an hour into the drift. Dan looked pretty pathetic with 4 inches of snow on his shoulders.7 hours of this nonsense had us realy wishing for a heater. Any way, the offer is still open if you want to go this weekend just email me. grumpyr (Ted)

Dom, Glad to hear you got to Black Creek before dark and that you got a fish. Did you put in under a bridge (Wishka bridge) or at an improved launch upsteam (Old White Bridge)? Either float is a full day affair, especially if you pull any plugs or planners. As grumpy suggests, it's best to get an early start and keep moving if you're going to make that kind of float in January. Tight lines--JT

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Dom,
If you think that drift was long, you should see the upper drift. If you don't keep moving, you'd better have a good flashlight! Ahh, yes, that fine day in the sun, snow, sleet, and horizontal rain with grumpy. What I wouldn't have done for a hot buttered rum THAT day..........
Fish on........

I don't think it was Wishka bridge. I'm assuming that Wishka bridge is off of Wishka Rd. We put in higher than that. We put in at a launch that had some bank maggots right across the river and a bathroom. It's a small launch.
