What are your guys/gals favorites ways to fish for native steelhead? I myself love how agressive native fish can be and I love to watch them bury my float. I just started fishing with jigs and floats about 2 years ago and absolutly love it .

Agreed, I like using jigs but rags, aeroflies scented with shrimp oil is a good way to go.

A rag or yarn drifted with shrimp tail or eggs seems to work. I'm going to start trying floats for the slower water. Maybe even a jig with some bait. I don't need to use scents with bait.

Black or purple maribou aerofly over a 1/0 gami with a chunk a red (egg juice) prawn. Remember if you use 1 technique 90% of the time you will catch 90% of your fish using that technique, so experiment if what you are using isn't working.

You are not going to regulary catch BIG nates unless you piss them off. I'm talikin' about 20+ pound fish. Plugs, plugs, more plugs, and spoons!!! Bonecrushing, wham bam thank you mam takedowns! Two 20+ last year and both were on plugs, one estimated 25ish on a spoon that was camera shy and MEAN!!!

Clipped pink worm off a jighead. Delicious. Or spinners if you're lucky enough to be fishing for big native summer-run steelies.

The most productive - rag with eggs or prawn. The most fun, but not necessarily the most productive - spoons/spinners. Big silver plated for winter runs, small green/bronze for summer runs. Hardware produces the hardest hits by far.....
