Last year I brought in a Corsair 300 to my local tackle shop to get it repaired. They told me Shimano was replacing the old silver Corsair reels with the new Gold ones at no charge (I was in the other day and the shop is still swapping them out for all those who still have the silver ones). I walked out the door with a new CS300 reel. I used it maybe 3 times last year. This week I got a Abu Garcia Ambassaduer 6500-C3 reel that someone on this site had listed for $40 buck. The reel looks brand new. I only need one and going to sell the other one to my cousin. The 6500 holds a little more line. Which one would you keep and why?
Thanks in advance for the always helpful advice.

keep the abu and give the corsair away. most folks that have had one have either made it their plunking/plugging reel or gotten rid of it. they are not the best reel for the money. I did the swap thing on mine and it is turning out to be my least favorite reel for drift fishing.

Agreed, keep the Abu and dump the Corsair.
For some reason the corsaire has had more problems then any reel shimano seem to make.
Blown drag, weird noise etc.
although the new corsair might have been improved.

I had the same decision recently and took the 6500C3 even though I already had 2. They're great reels...I don't know why I even tried the Corsair. They've been a real looser for Shimano. Take the 6500C3 and run!
