How's about a little good news. The most recent preliminary redd count from Lake Crescent shows a substantial increase in spawning activity over last year. Could it be that when you catch and release, as they istituted in the lake last year, that the fish actually spawn?
Several of the areas that are under study show improvement Beadslees and Crescentis both. Looks like they will open again this year under C&R regs.

Native Son,

Wowsie! You mean the NPS policy of 28 years of C&R on the Yellowstone River wasn't a fluke? It can actually work anywhere else to maintain an ecologically and recreationally viable fishery? Hot Damn! What are the chances this could trickle down from the NPS to our own beloved WDFW? Ah yes, leadership nearly always begins at the grass roots.

Thanks for the good news.

Sincerely,

Salmo g.

Some credit should be given, here, to Washington Trout which conducted snorkle surveys of Crescent's fish (what was left of them!) and made a strong case for the trout. As well as credit to the Park for listening to WT.
Good news, indeed!
