Enough is enough already!!! I'm sorry if I offend anyone with this but I just can't hold it back any longer. It needs to be said!! I've said it before and I'll say it again. There's a thin red line between genius and insanity. Not only have most of us crossed it many times lately bashing each other on Northwest fishing forum boards across the web,...We've completely erased it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have we all forgotten why we fish? Why we go out every chance we get to wet a line? Where's the fun gone in our sport? Whatever happened to the days on the river when we'd pass another boat and say "HI!! How you guys doing today" Or even pass a bank angler in our boat and show them some respect and the water they are fishing. "Hi, how Ya doing today? Would you like me to pass you on the inside or the outside?" What ever happened to common courtesy on the river? WHERE HAS THE FUN GONE????? Seems to me there's been more fear out there than fun!! Guides bashing guides? Not cool!!! Hats off to you Bob for not involving yourself web wise in any bashing going on. I don't know what goes on off the web and it's not my problem or anyone else's out there. It seems to me as a guide that the brotherhood and comradery of the whole thing has completely gone out of it on some of our Northwest rivers. Not all but some!!! Personally I still really enjoy the company of guides like Robbo over in my neck of the woods on the river. Swapping holes and actually laughing and talking to each other as we float down the river. Hows about this? On opening day of trout season this year why don't we all take at least one kid out fishing. If your like me and don't yet have your own, take a neighborhood kid out with you. Hook a kid into a fish and watch his eyes light up. Live for the moment and remember why we all do what we do and why we got into this sport!! Lots of guys have been asking what is the SRBC. Well here it goes, SRBC Outta Da Sack!!! SRBC was formed by a group of guys on my web site's chat room. It was formed when we were all crushed by the closures of all of our "S" rivers in the Puget Sound region. After we all got our venting over with and decided to do the best with what we had and still have fun we decided to form our own little gang our group if you will to promote the fun back into fishing. Couldn't decide wether we were gonna be "Blood" or "Crip" so we went with Bloody Crips. Originally started as the Skagit River Bloody Crips, SRBC and then grew to "S" rivers throughout the Northwest even including the Snake and others. Initiation was simple if we knew you were gonna promote the fun back into the sport. Great ice breaker on a crowded river where guys were gettin testy with each other. Float a blow up doll down the river with a cigar in her mouth past all the other boats. Hence, Robbo's girlfriend we all miss so much!! Sorry for your loss Robbo. Gotta' have fun with what we do here guys and at the same time promote doing what we can to preserve what we have left. Sorry so long winded, I feel better now!!
Tight Lines to all and may your waders never dry!!!! J---<")(\(\(\)>{

Well said Johnny. I have to agree 100%. Seems like the whole fishin thing has taken the turn towards a big giant cut throat competition (no pun intended). A guy used to fish for relaxation and enjoyment, and we need to bring that back to fishing. When I guided in Louisiana, there were 3 other guides that would meet on a little grass hammock in the marsh, and we would make lunch for our clients, and compare notes on how the fishing was. If it was rocking, we would call each other on the ship to shore radios, and share the joy. I think those days are long gone. I'd love to be an honorary out of state member of the SRBC. It's amazing how many friends i have met by shootin the breeze with guys on rivers. It's led to a lot of new fishing opportunities for me, and for them. Gotta say your post was timely. Better to build yourself up with your owm efforts, than to pile turds on the next guy to make yourself look better. Robbo didn't bring the blow up doll to the Zipper a couple years ago. With the wind, snow, and rain, we could have kept her busy. Tell old 5 foot 19 inch tall boy toy, that Hawk says hey. Out

I use to visit this board often, and enjoyed the helpful insight. I don't visit much anymore do to the smart mouths that spew negative posts. I don't know what this srbc is, but I'll tell ya people have forgot that fishing is FUN. To some its a living, but you have to keep it fun regardless.JCB

Johhny, I know what you mean about trying to keep fishing fun, too many people taking things way too seriously and with the recent closures, it's only getting worse. Fished with a Quinault river guide yesterdy and didn't see a single other fisherman on the river, I thought about how nice it was to have solitude and how much everybody takes it for granted. We always joke around in the boat and have fun on the water, that's what makes it so much fun!!! Thanks, Johhny and good post. Justin

John, you're damn eloquent for a guide and, unlike most of us, apparently not given to cynicism -- enviable qualities, to be sure.
Lest anyone who reads this post think your statements are superficial, myself and a number of frequent contributors here can speak to their sincerity. A day -- no, an hour -- with you on a river replete with boats and bankies proves that you don't simply believe in fishing's golden rule, you embrace it.
Maintain that genial, humor-laced outlook, John, for far too few of us have.

AMEN Johnny C. Due to the transient nature of my job I've changed my email/home addresses more often than I like. Tonite I was tryin to determine which email address I had registered under (to no avail) by checking some older postings. While reading thru some of the threads I discovered something that I have suspected fer a while: The nature of this BB has changed! And not for the better!! Definitely too much (excuse the "new age lingo") negativity. This BB was much, much more in the spirit of good sportsmanship only 4-6 mo.s ago. I sincerely hope that the members of this BB can stop w/all the negative sh- I mean crap. If some of the people posting on this BB put 1/10th of the energy into hounding legislators and the media, volunteering for fish restoration projects etc. as they do into all these negative postings we'd all be a lot better off. And, I'll wager, the fish would be too. That said, Kudos to Bob-this is still the best web sight I have ever seen, bar none. Thanx fer doin such a GREAT job. Maybe it is due to such a slow season but geez folks grow up!

John, You hit the brat on the head!If the sportsman do not start acting civil with each other and stick together we will end up without a C&R & C&K resource.It is obvious by looking at the soveriegn nations and commercial fisherman what sticking together will do! Lets be friendly and civil to each other, so that maybe we'll be able to form an alliance together.. with the same goals in mind! Fishing&Fun (F&F) ------------------ Tight Lines & Wet Nets!
