Check this out. A buddy and I were fishing the Skagit Wednesday with John Koening—a.k.a. JohnnyCoho. This is wild-I had just hooked a fish and knew I had Hawg. It was ripping me all over the river jumping and making fast runs. It even did the Orca "spy hop" and stuck his head up to take a look. We bank the boat and the fish started to run down river. John said I’m gonna try to scare it back up river. About that time I heard some rocks and riverbank tumble into the river. John yells "Jeff did you feel that?" -my response was "feel what my legs are shaking so much I cant feel anything" He says “I think we had an earthquake”. My mind was elsewhere -I was on a mission to get this fish in. Finally, after a good 20-minute battle we landed the fish a nice 21+lb buck nate. The fish had two other hooks in its mouth. I had on 10lb main and 8lb leader. Got some nice pictures and let it go. That’s the story of Quaky the Nate.

The rest of the day we thought --hmmmmm wonder if that was an earthquake. After that the bite went off. Only hooked 2 dollies after that. We had a great bite up to that point. That was our 4th head, and we had battle with some beauty Dollies.

That’s fishing SRBC style.
