I am looking at getting a GL3 1263 (10.5') tied up for a bobber rod. I am thinking of setting it up to be used with a spinning reel. Any info or opinions from folks who have bobber fished would be greatly appreciated. In addition as a bit of info to folks I heard that Loomis will no longer be selling blanks in the near future. So if you were going to get that custom Loomis rod done, you may want to get on it. I have a friend of mine who is able to order them still at a good price, so if you want some E mail me and I'll get you in touch. I'm not sure when this new policy takes effect.

Great choice for a float rod. The longer the better. I have a STR1265C, I use it for everything from hog fall chinook to summer steelhead. I usually use it when the water is up and Im dealing with strong curren flows.
The 1263 is a better choice for steelhead. You should be happy with it. Built as aspinning rod you will be able to cast light wieghts with ease. I have a STR1143C and a STR1141C I use both for float fishing. I wish I had that extra foot sometimes for better line control.

The GL3 ST 1263s is a rod that I have set aside for my trip to Forks at the end of the month.
I have fished the GL3 ST 1143s quite a bit, and I am very excited to see how the 1263s fishes as I don't get a chance to fish the longer rods on our smaller S.OR coastal rivers.

I'll sell the rod as a demo the first part of April when I return for those of you interested.
