Hey folks, I thought this would be a good place for some expert input. My dad and I are planning a fishing vacation this fall. We are thinking about Alaska, but B.C. might be a cheaper alternative. Any suggestions for locations at both an affordable price and good fishing? Any help would be greatfull. Thanks

Give us a little more info. What is affordable? What kind of fish do you want to target? Do you want guided or unguided fishing? Fresh or saltwater fishing? answer these and it will be easier for people to give you input.

A great Alaska guided fishery is with Bob Ball (the really big one) on the Kasilof. He will get you fish and give you a really good time.
A lot of guys on this board have gone with him (me included)and have lots of happy times. fp

I have been to a couple of Oak Bay Marine groups properties. The Princess in Ucluelet (Ucluelet is an Indian word meaning Barfing in Big Waves) is a blast. Cheap, catch a lot of fish, Fair accomodations.Drive to Vancouver, fly to Tofino. Ad in the paper starting at $199. This for accomodations on the boat, don't do that, get accomodations on shore.

Way West Resort in Tofino if you want to spend a bit more (like 3 to 5 times as much). Ocean trolling.

A great get away is Sooke in the Juan de Fuca strait. Oak Bay rents 15 - 17 Hourstons out of Pedder Bay Marina. If you like to be your own pilot, a great adventure! Race Rocks, Church Rock, Secratary Island. Great area. Got skunked for three days last year, (that bit) but the year before a buddy and I brought possesion limits home twice.
