I had an email from a fellow board member waiting for me when I got to the office today that puts our fishing and hobby activities in perspective. I don't know that he wants his identity known but he's a regular poster and I wanted put a note here asking you all to keep things like this in mind and keep him and his family in your thoughts.

On Friday this friend's mother and father in law, step son and step son's girlfriend were murdered in Des Moines. Something like this makes all our bickering and *****ing over fish seem very petty. I couldn't imagine having to deal with such a sudden tragedy out of the blue. Please keep our friend in mind and in your prayers.

Bruce

It was a really bad weekend for many families. Another reader (non poster) of the board also passed away this weekend. Nate was a 19 year student studying fisheries at University of Wisonsin Stevens Point. He used to get a kick out of you guys and your posts. He went out in the bay in Algoma Wisconsin on Saturday morning with two of his buddies to do some fishing. Something went bad out there, and they are still looking for Nates body in Lake Michigan. The other two guys were sent via life flight to Green Bay and Sturgeon Bay for treatment. Life is very fragile guys. Enjoy every second you have, as there are no guarantees. May god bless them all.

B Gray,
They will be in my family`s prayers, my daughter also knew the girl that was killed, so it hits a little closer, along with the young man that was killed at pioneer square in Feb.just happens to have been a neighbor. The school which both of them attended (my alma mater) is dealing with the very
tragic situations as well, my daughter told me there isn`t a dry eye in the place, makes mt heart go out. Tony

B. Gray & Hawk,
I'm saddened to of these tragedy's. A few months ago I retired a long career as a Dep. Sheriff here on the O.P. During that time, I was unfortunate enough to deal with some bad times for alot of good people. Yesterday I watched a fellow officer laid to rest. He too was murdered. Another senseless loss. Anymore, I can't bear to watch the news or read a paper. I pray every night that my family and friends well be safe & make it through another day. I will include your friends in my prayers as well. God Bless! Bob

Yes, it does put everything in perspective. We can tell stories, share info, and moan all we want about fisheries management, but it all pales in light of something like this.
